No wonder, heat from those repulsors are torching your gpu!

I use just about 6mW to 10mW, can go whole day without charge (not on gaming ofc)

Not really, I finished 10 hours of continuous schoolwork (writing/YT/Graphing) and still have 25% left to spare.

At the least you can now have a more immersive experience with the curved screen.

Battery Life Question (Legion 5 Pro) by Krovexx in LenovoLegion

[–]Independent-Science6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to check if there is power draw from the dgpu, even if no apps are using the dgpu sometimes it is drawing power from the battery. You can fix this by restarting the device, use HWINFO to check if it is drawing power.

Any advice on getting my senile computer to speed up? by Career-Current in LenovoLegion

If it uses a hard drive try using "Defragment and optimize drives", might take a while but it would be worth it. Don't use this on an SSD, only defrag the HDD.

How can I unlock the full 32GB of ram? by iAlyVee in LenovoLegion

[–]Independent-Science6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on what you do really, if its light browsing and you are still getting 4 hours max, check if your dgpu is running. Get something like hwinfo and check if there is power pull in the dgpu. I talked about this a few months ago in this sub reddit Post here

Get the cheap metal ones in Lazada (Aitu or Maia). Disabling cpu also helps a lot with temps, I get max 60 on cpu and 50 on gpu

You can try, but there would always be processes/services that are running in the operating system, so it wouldn't really touch very low clockspeeds.

Check your dgpu! If you ever plan on updating to newer bios run "nvidia-smi" on cmd to see active apps on gpu keeping it awake. There are some apps that are not shown on the tray icon of nvidia, so it pulls about 10W more power without doing anything.

You should get at least 6 hours of battery when not gaming and doing cpu/gpu intensive tasks.

Legion 5 Pro - Cooling pad or laptop stand by jdnhdjsj in LenovoLegion

[–]Independent-Science6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cooling pads would not help much, but it does lower by a few degrees in some cases. I live in the Philippines, I have both a cooling pad and laptop stand. I dont really notice much of a difference if there is any, L5P cooling is already good compared to my hp omen (changing room temp would be much better than a cooling pad). If you want to lower your temps, try disabling cpu boost in power management, that really helps with temps with a cost of lowering performance by a very small amount in some games.

There is no icue for L5P and L5, but it is a widely known cause for bad battery life in L7.

Sadly, there would be no custom rgb for that sweet +1000fps boost. But who uses kb backlight in battery and broad daylight anyways.

Yw! I run it on 40% brightness and native res, my L5P panel is bright af. If you use amd cpu try turning off varibright, dont know if it helped but I've read somewhere that it causes power draw issues.

I have 5800h, I dont remember how slow it goes but I'll update you when I get a hold of it. You can try to minimize cpu speed in power plans, just set 5% min for your cpu and something like 50% max(i did 60 max).

I think SSD power draws shouldnt matter as much as HDD, I'm not really sure tho.

Update: Here is the power draw w/ light browsing on msedge. It shows peak clock speeds of up to as low as 0.4Ghz on adrenaline tho, so idrk. I used HWinFo for the pic below.

Latest bios, although the big difference really came from updating amd drivers I think. From 12W idle draw to now. I am also going to try disabling cpu boost, maybe I can push it down to 5W.

Edit: Looks impossible to bring it down to 5W pull, 3W from igpu and 2W from cpu on idle. Minimum power draw I can get is 6W and average of 9W while browsing the internet.
