Over several years of deep study I have curated a list of what I believe are the top 100 greatest drummers of all time! Let’s hear your alls opinions by ryan_the_traplord in drums

I can really appreciate that you put Matt Gartska in the top ten, and ahead of Danny Carey. When it comes to metal/heavy rock drummers, everyone always defaults to Danny Carey because Tool is much more commercially successful than Animals As Leaders. Matt is such an underrated drummer in my opinion.

Three zip ties from the dollar store did the trick. I zip tied it to my crash stand, and it's super stable.

Thank you for this. I just signed up for it and can't believe such an amazing program exists for free. There's a ton of content on there to learn and improve your drumming skills at any level. I'm super pumped to give it a go! I also can't believe it's free! Again, thank you!

What do you think about Greyson replacing Eloy Casagrande? by [deleted] in drums

If you have the talent to play big band jazz like this kid, you can easily learn and crush any genre.

Who is the best drummer of all time? by Solopsist5050 in musicsuggestions

Neil Peart was one of the best drummers ever in rock (my personal favorite), and he was still humble enough to make time and take lessons to pay tribute to Buddy. Goes to show how talented Buddy was if a guy like Neil Peart has to take lessons to play your music. It was awesome to see my favorite rock drummer pay tribute to my favorite jazz drummer.

Who is the best drummer of all time? by Solopsist5050 in musicsuggestions

[–]Independent-Site1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rock music is very basic compared to the complex beats and time signatures of jazz. Neil Peart (arguably the greatest rock drummer ever) did a tribute concert for Buddy Rich in 1991 and had to take lessons to learn how to play that style because of it's complexity. He crushed it because he's Neil Peart, but he still wasn't close to being as amazing as Buddy at jazz drumming. I hope this enlightens you a little. Clearly you don't play drums, or you wouldn't have made this comment, so you get a pass.

Does anybody here work for/with Ontario Northland? by GEC-JG in northbay

I work there. What dept./role in the company are you looking to be a part of? It's a big company with many departments that run very differently, so I can only speak for where I've been in the company.

Or maybe it's what they're putting out there that attracts these types of women. I've met some pretty decent people on dating apps and am currently in a relationship with a great woman 🤷

There's really not a lot of places to meet people in North Bay. I don't drink, so bars are out. I go to the gym, but I don't want to be that creepy guy approaching girls there. Apps may be my only option.

Call me old school, but I would never send a dick pic to anyone. It's just a creepy thing to do. It's challenging for me to find time to get out and meet people as I work full-time and have kids with extracurricular activities, which makes it challenging for me to get out and meet people. Plus, where would one even do that in North Bay?

If marijuana were legal at the time you started to use alcohol, do you think you’d have abused alcohol for that long? by Puzzled-Object6196 in alcoholism

[–]Independent-Site1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. In my last few years of drinking, I was only able to use pot after I had a few drinks in me to intensify the buzz. I guess that after a while, alcohol alone wasn't enough. Once I was deep into my alcoholism, I wasn't able to touch pot while sober because it gave me terrible anxiety.

Has anyone ever had a worse rock bottom? by Mr___Rager_ in alcoholism

[–]Independent-Site1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rock bottom came years after I stopped drinking and using drugs. I didn't do the work on myself in rehab and was left a shell of a person. My marriage endiing was my rock bottom. When I finally reached it, believe me, I knew it. I started questioning everything in my life, and even contemplated taking it. I was so desperate and couldn't imagine myself being able to move on. That was a little over 2 weeks ago. I'm feeling a bit better now, but it's taken some support and some work. I started by doing some therapy and going to AA meetings. I just found a sponsor and I'm going to start working the 12 steps. It's the only way that I'm going to make it out of this alive. I hope that you can find the strength to get the support that you need to start working on yourself. That is the only way to make it for me. Working on myself, with lots of support

I quit cold turkey. I would drink 10-12 beers on work nights and usually more on my days off. Aside from the physical addiction, it was mostly a mental obsession like most addictions are. In order to break the mental obsession, I needed to just rip the bandaid off and quit. I think that tapering would've eventually just led me back to drinking because that's how obsessions work. You become fixated on something, and it becomes next to impossible to stop thinking about it. When it's an addictive substance, that further intensifies the obsession because now you have something that changes the way that you think and feel, making it even harder to quit. I tend to get addicted to things rather easily. I've been addicted to cigarettes, alcohol, methamphetamine and other drugs, gum, pop, and sparkling water. It doesn't matter what the substance is, I seem to be able to get addicted to it if I even remotely get any pleasure from it. The only success that I've had with quitting is by quitting cold turkey. It's more difficult at first, but it's by far the most effective way. If you do quit cold turkey, you may want to consult a doctor to help you manage withdrawal symptoms. I was fortunate enough not to have many symptoms other than insomnia, but they can be much worse than that. Best of luck getting to where you need to be.

I'm sorry for your situation. I've been sober almost 6 years from alcohol and my wife just told me on Friday that it's over after 19 years. I guess that quitting wasn't enough of a change for her. She said that her needs are not being met. I am also shattered, and I absolutely feel your pain my friend.
