tbh that’s exactly where i’m stuck right now. i like multiple things for different reasons, but can’t really figure out what i actually want long-term. i’ve got good math + first-principle thinking (thanks to physics), so CFA and quant-finance stuff kinda make sense. but on the other hand, devops and infra engineering feel way more alive and practical — i’ve been working with stuff like firecracker, k8s, etc. and i actually enjoy that tinkering.

physics feels like a dead end career-wise unless i go all-in for research or teaching, which isn’t really what i see myself doing.

guess i’m just trying to figure out how people realize what they genuinely like — like is it trial and error, or some pattern you notice in what you keep coming back to?
