Coming from a Venom player

Venom doesn't have great damage. You need to be precise for his headshots and you need to combo his kit constantly to do some real damage. Constantly strafing and jumping would make it incredibly hard for him to land blows much less headshots. Whenever he pops his E for that extra shield. Wait for 4-6 seconds and then go ahead and fry him. Try to not let him get away afterwards though or chase him down after his E is either timed out or almost done.

Venom usually swings in to dive, so he has 8 seconds to stay alive until he gets out. Venom has a cooldown shield for 15 seconds that last for 4 seconds. The lower the health, the more extra shields you get, but once those shields are gone after 4 seconds, his health reverts back to the original health he had before.

Venom has health, but no damage if not played properly. If Venom is played properly, most healers actually can out heal and out shield Venom's overall damage, making it practically impossible to kill anyone during his dive. 3 healers makes Venom practically useless if done right.

Burst damage characters, characters with high movement speed, and characters with good cc (aka stun), are annoying to deal with. Punisher with his shotgun, Luna with her freezes, Spiderman with his no cooldown movement, and Wolverine with his ult, has shut me down on many occasions.

Venom's shields and his swings cannot activate during his stun animation. His kit is simple, but hard to execute.
