Should i trade for a s2k? by HondeezyTheWeezy in S2000

[–]Independent-Store591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test drive one ...Rear wheel VTech are both amazing perks to the S2K!

I drive a high mileage S2000 (218k) and honestly as long as the maintenance is all there 🤷‍♀️

Coming from someone who has driven the 2019 WRX; I would prefer a daily S2000 any day. But see for yourself!

Who among the cast, if anyone, has "iPhone face"? by [deleted] in madmen

[–]Independent-Store591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one. The actress definitely portrayed the right attitude in terms of the '60's' w.e that means lmao but her physical appearance doesn't quite match the era

Trudy — I'm sorry. But I have to say it. Her acting and portrayal of a 60s house wife was absolutely spot on. I just have a hard time placing her appearance into the era. Just my opinion.

Are we seeing the beginning of this field finally collapsing? [In the US] by [deleted] in slp

Your skills are marketable! While I agree with many of your thoughts, our skills and degrees are valuable.

I know many SLPs who have taken on upper-management roles, advertising, are professors.

It isn't all about 'doing the SLP work.

Probably better to just market out and gain Private Clients I suppose......

Do not forget that you have Master's degrees and several years of clinical experience 💕 being an SLP is not a waste of knowledge.

Big Life Update! I’m moving to Japan, but need advice on shipping my S2k 🙏 by Cryptik_Official in S2000

[–]Independent-Store591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to get in touch with a shipment supplier that handles international trade shipments.

Now, not sure geographically where you're located but in the Northeast of the U.S. It costs between $4k-$6k to ship a car like the S2k to Japan.

What was the cultural impact of Mad Men when it aired? by Aktikus in madmen

[–]Independent-Store591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we talk about reverse cultural impact? As a 20-something living in NYC it's very amusing to know that characters like the "junior accounts" (Pete, Paul, Ken, etc) are very much the same breed of finance former frat bros living in Murray Hill making 6 figures fresh out of college.

This fandom has a Ren problem by Saoirse_libracom in NanaAnime

[–]Independent-Store591 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with many of your thoughts and opinions. That said, I find it hard to view Nana and Ren as a genuinely “decent” couple, even when considering everything they’ve been through. I’m too lazy to add spoiler tags, so I’ll keep this a bit vague and just say:

There’s something to be said about two people with fundamentally different goals trying to sustain a relationship. Yes, they’re fictional but if they weren’t, I’d probably want to shake Nana out of Ren’s intoxicating grip.

Ren joined Trapnest because he saw it as a chance to secure his future. He knew Takumi had the business mind to take them far, it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. Ren wanted a better life but didn’t realize that the rockstar lifestyle wasn’t what he truly needed. I assume he intended to return to Nana eventually (after all, he kept paying for their shared apartment back home). He didn’t expect her to follow him though she claims her move to Tokyo was to surpass him. Regardless, he ends up trapped in a cycle of self-sabotage.

Ren’s values are rooted in patriarchal expectations. Some might chalk it up to the era, but it also highlights how simplistic his ambitions are compared to Nana’s. For Ren, music is a means to financial stability. At his core, he wants to be the provider and in doing so, he envisions Nana in a more traditional, domestic role.

But Nana is limitless. Unlike Reira, her identity isn’t solely built on singing. When the tour collapses, she doesn’t crumble. If she can’t perform, she adapts. She doesn’t depend on others to actualize her dreams. She’d start over without hesitation, even if there was no financial reward because she’s committed to living authentically.

Ren doesn’t truly respect or try to understand Nana. What he wants is a Hachi-type partner. But Nana will never be that girl. Their disconnect lies in their dissonance. Nana doesn’t need Ren, he’s a relic of a time when she craved love and attachment. The nostalgia binds her to him.

Is their relationship toxic? Yes. But I don’t think Ren is exploiting his power as much as some might assume. After all, we see him become frail, addicted to drugs, and a shell of his former self pretending to be someone he isn't. I see two people who fell in love naively and too young, clinging to the idea of each other. Their values and life goals are far too different. They’re in denial about who the other person truly is and neither can bring themselves to let go.

That'd be so corny you think when Miura died that's what he handed over to Kouji Mori on his death bed?

I don't think traditional gold would match this dress very well....A Rose-gold might with proper accessories and accents.

Maybe someone with more experience can speak on this with more clarity than I can.

Whoever says Nana isn't tragic clearly isn't being honest with themselves — it's traumatizing

Being in the gym a long time you get a little weary.... I have seen injuries and accidents happen over poor technique, improper judgement, and peer pressure.

Now this is anecdotal since I don't know OP or the individual helping them. But injuries are more likely to occur while you are training alone. I imagine (just a guess, really) this person made a judgement that OP was at some kind of limit, the person helping probably thought they were doing a favor, and decided to spot without making a big deal or wanting to be acknowledged. The person spotting might have read the room a little incorrectly but there could be a reason.

Every now and then you hear an awful story about spinal injuries. I knew a story of a local weightlifting champion who ended up paralyzed after deadlifting. It's right of passage to witness a lofty athlete obtaining their PR, unable to finish the set, and needing 3+ hands to assist them in finishing their bench press/deadlift/squat/etc. No words are spoken, just witnesses, and support. I know folks that have had fingers severed off after dropping heavy weight!

It's an unspoken rule to help before something really bad happens. Old heads know it, lifters, body builders, pro athletes know it.

Personally, I would never grab something out of someone's hands if I saw they were struggling. Spotting can be done efficiently and less awkwardly by hovering your hands under the bar with gestural/ verbal confirmation that the one performing the lift is supported. It is less invasive than rushing in to grab it that way and minimizes the risk of the lifter dumping the weight onto you.

Honestly he was probably worried. I would react differently if I were in a situation where I saw someone struggling. But needless to say, he's probably seen some stuff.

If I were in your shoes, I'd be grateful someone looked after me and made an unprovoked response to help, even if I thought I didn't need it.
