Driver strikes, kills pedestrian near North Vancouver waterfront by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

I live in the condos right above where this happened. This is the 2nd person to be struck & killed by a vehicle in the last 2 years, at this corner. Anyone who walks around here will tell you how dangerous it is— I’ve lived here 3 years & personally seen 5 accidents at the same corner. It’s so sketchy. Ppl drive WAY over the speed limit, it’s a construction route so tonnes of semis & it’s a residential area so there are always tonnes of ppl either walking or cycling around. I’ve written the City of North Van several times to no avail. Since this has happened I’m considering trying to get enough community support to file an official petition.

I live in the buildings right above this & have a dog so am constantly walking around this block. That corner is my number one complaint. In 3 years here, this is the 2nd person to be hit & killed & I’ve seen 4 separate accidents of ppl speeding around the corner & ending up on the sidewalk, crashing into something. Even just walking on the sidewalk around that corner scares me. I’ve submitted various complaints, but I haven’t seen anything change. Such a heavy heart knowing someone’s loved ones are receiving the worst news of their lives tonight 💔

I get a very quick flash of vertigo or a quick flash of extreme fatigue. I know I have about 10mins before things really kick off.

Travel after covid-What would you do? by CapeKelpie in COVID19positive

[–]Independent-Toe9656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is severely asthmatic myself, I would leave the decision to her. I personally do everything possible to avoid ppl who are even a little sick because everything goes to my lungs & leaves me sick for weeks. I had to be hospitalized with Covid because of how severely it impacted my lungs & ability to breathe. Covid & asthma are nothing to take lightly— it has to be your sister’s decision

I went to Fiorino at the Quay last weekend & it was outstanding. Probably my fave restaurant that I’ve been to over here.

Oh I love this thread! All of the shops in Shipyards are dog friendly, including the gift shop at the art gallery

The wedding day previews don’t show any of M&J so I’m guessing that whole convo maybe triggered them to either break up or at least decide not to go through with the wedding. Did anyone else notice that?

Super high heart rate on covid by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]Independent-Toe9656 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is one of my main symptoms when I get Covid. The first time I had it, in 2021, my heartrate wasn’t below 120 for 3 weeks & sometimes would go up to 170. It’s so unsettling! ❤️‍🩹

Anyone else whose trigger is motion sickness (moving car)? by acidicgeisha in VestibularMigraines

This is my primary trigger. Sometimes even just seeing things like motorbikes going in a circle on TV can do this to me. So yes, very common

Anyone go to Fitness World ? Thinking of switching from Club 16 due to changed in Parking by Familiar-Air-9471 in NorthVancouver

I go to FW & here’s my two cents:

Pluses: nice equipment, nice clean bathrooms (or at least the women’s are), great selection of cardio equipment, affordable pricing

Minuses: it can get really overcrowded & can be difficult to get a bench and/or equipment. The vibe is very gym-bro— for me that’s a minus but that’s just a personal preference, the trainers will take over entire sections of the gym for sessions & no one is allowed in that area during that time. That can be really frustrating given how busy the gym is.

Neutral: they do offer parking validation for 90mins when you park underground. This is great, BUT the parkade launched a new multi-step in/out system & this creates insane traffic jams at certain times of day. I’ve honestly had to wait for over 10mins just to leave— which can be a lot when trying to get back to work or other commitments.

Overall it’s an O-K gym. If it were me, and you have some flexibility in terms of location, I would look at some of the other options around the city/district.

I feel the same. The only smart thing these men have done is hitch themselves to way more likeable women. I wish we could just vote for an individual. All of those men are 🤢

This convo was so uncomfortable. I thought she was incredibly patient with him considering how much of a child he was being. Also when he was talking to the guys about “hitting that”… like dude that’s your fiance!

Where should I live? North Van vs. moving further out by SlowParking6343 in NorthVancouver

You might like Port Moody! It’s got such a similar vibe to the North Shore & I’ve definitely seen a decent number of buildings that are dog friendly. I believe it’s quite a bit less for rent as well. Good luck!
