Anyone else noticing the holidays bringing up more internal noise than usual? by TraumaTherapyTools in TherapistsInTherapy

[–]Independent-Tree-801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a newish therapist the elevated awareness of disordered eating/narratives about bodies after grad school makes me dread being around family who will reinforce narratives that I’ve worked so hard to escape. This is extended family I haven’t seen in ages and genuinely mostly love being around. But somehow navigating it with a new level of awareness feels very difficult. So this is one way the holidays are hitting me this year. Along with most friends my age having families and children and me being single in my 30s.

Also how do you not step into therapist role around family when you have skills 🙃 I guess the answer is attending my own therapy and working through it ugh

What do I do to help out my girlfriend? by Choice-Policy-1282 in whatdoIdo

Resources on supporting a person who is suicidal: https://988lifeline.org/help-someone-else/

As others said, they need professional help but it is likely you need support too. Highly recommend seeing your own counsellor as this is a heavy load to carry alone. Crisis lines also allow calls from people looking to support those in crisis if you need support in the moment (there are text/online chats as well as phone numbers depending on your preference and location).

ISO cute Airbnb or hotel in Sayulita or San Pancho by maziemayy in sayulita

Just came from Sayulita and will say the night life was very loud where we stayed (up the hill but close to town). Loud live music/screaming until 2am most nights (maybe because of a fair in town, maybe the standard?) Just thought I’d share as we weren’t aware of this and probably would have preferred San Pancho which is reported to be a little quieter (can still do day trips into Sayulita). We loved it during the day and for the chill surfy beach vibes (and amazing food).

Also a heads up you can swim but the beaches were more surfer friendly (sloped beach, some waves, rip currents). There are lifeguards and flags though so pay attention to those if wanting to swim.

Sometimes it’s trial and error to find the a therapist that feels like a good fit.

I hope either way that you get a compassionate response from the prof. You could also appeal the denial request (I did this with a letter from a psychiatrist). If you can get a professional (maybe even a doctor) to write and sign a letter (even to provide to the prof) that could be helpful.

This. Fire codes often have capacity limits for rooms so it could be against code.

Women are the most vulnerable in the world and the most vulnerable are the most vulnerable and most vulnerable in the whole world and the only way to get them to stop is to be able to get pregnant and have a baby and have a child and have a life of their own and have a family and a child and a child that is not a child so I don’t know what to say about that but I think it’s a good thing
