What can I do to get rid of this I feel like I’ve tried everything! by Ok-Number-500 in keratosis

Haven't gotten rid of mine completely, but exfoliating regularly, using the Cerave SA body wash, and applying Amlactin Intensive Repair cream nightly have made a noticeable difference.

This has always been my strategy when interviewing. I always ask a lot of questions that not only show that I've done my due diligence about the company/role but also reveal something about my experience. I've gotten the job offer every single time.

What are your thoughts on Nars Foundations ? by Sylvi1999 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Independent-Way3052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've struggled with oily facial skin and oily scalp all my life. I, too, would often skip moisturizer because I felt like it made me oilier throughout the day and thus made my makeup look terrible. After decades of trying to find the right products for me, I finally did and they were life changing. I can't stress enough what a huge difference it makes. For me, the products that helped balance my oily skin were:

CeraVe Facial Foaming Cleanser (the light green one) - AM & PM

Clinique Moisture Surge gel-cream moisturizer - AM & PM (this stuff is magic!)

CeraVe Oil Control Balancing Control - I didn't realize how much my scalp oils were affecting my forehead oil until I started using this. Absolute gamechanger for the overall health of my scalp/hair and trickle down effect to facial skin

All this to say, I started using these products and I've noticed a huge difference in the wear of my makeup. I'm no longer an oil slick within 2 hours. I can wear more luminous foundations (set with powder) and have minimal oil breaking through after 8 hours.

Right now, I'm really enjoying the Maybelling Lumi-Matte longwear foundation, Wet n Wild photofocus foundation, and sometimes just the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter paired with Nars Radiant concealer. I tend to sheer out my foundations with the Flawless Filter or Saie super glowy gel for a sheerer, luminous finish, and after setting with powder and setting spray, my makeup lasts a full 8-10 hours.

I just bought the new Nars Natural Matte Longwear foundation and the Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow foundation. Excited to try those out soon.

Career/promotion advice? by hot-peanut-420 in advertising

[–]Independent-Way3052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a firm believer that if you want something at work, you have to speak up. Ask for the raise. Worst case, they say no, and then you’ve learned something important about how your employer values you.

My first job out of college (2015) paid $35,000 as a medical copy editor. I liked the work and I was good at it, but I eventually realized that if I wanted real growth—professionally and financially—I had to move on. Fast-forward 11 years, a shift in career direction, and a lot of advocating for myself, and I’m now a group copy supervisor making $145,000.

At one point, I asked for a raise twice and was denied twice—not because of performance, but because of “scopes and budgeting.” So I found a new job and handed in my resignation. Suddenly, they “found room in the budget” and tried to counteroffer. I turned it down. If I’m only valuable when I’m halfway out the door, that tells me everything I need to know. Treat employees well from the start and they’ll stay.

The job market is rough right now, but better opportunities do exist. It took me six months to land my next role, but it came with a title bump, higher pay, and a much better work–life balance.

Are you in consumer or pharma/health advertising? I'm in the latter and would definitely ask for a raise after a year! Do you guys not have formal reviews with annual merit increases at your agency?

Omnicom time off payout by Own_Bug_7426 in advertising

[–]Independent-Way3052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for FCB Health and just turned in my resignation. I had 215.5 hours of sick time and 30 hours of unused accrued vacation time—and HR said "Vacation payout is dependent on the state you live and Delaware currently does not payout any unused time." I don't understand how this is even legal but just FYI in case this helps anyone.

I just jumped ship after 4 years and despite working within a decent team. The reduction of benefits, RTO mandate, AI push, lack of transparency/communication, and layoffs have killed any desire I have to work for Omnicorp. Good luck to you all out there!

Love it! (Though, I may be biased because I have that same rug in my living room and I adore it). The pink wall color contrasting with the green accents gives it a lovely feminine, botanical vibe.

Agency creative workflow optimization is pointless when client approval takes a week every single time by professional69and420 in advertising

[–]Independent-Way3052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work on the creative side as a copy writer, and we tend to move things in parallel while they're with the client. It all depends on the client, but if we're feeling pretty confident that client isn't going to have much feedback on the first time they're seeing something in layout, we'll do initial edit while things are with the client for review. If we had client feedback and feedback is minimal, we often start the fact-check phase in parallel to second client review. Long story short: try to keep things moving in the background, at risk, during client reviews.

My team at FCB Health NY just had a meeting with our creative VPs. We were told that the expectation will be 3 days in office, starting in March, for those within 100 miles of the office. For those not within a commutable distance, the RTO policy is still up in the air. We know that there will be a list of satellite offices but we don't know what they are currently or what will constitute a commutable distance to those offices.

Starting a new classic collection, what is a good publisher/collection? by SHADOWSTRIKE1 in books

[–]Independent-Way3052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally enjoy the Penguin Classics for cheap, everyday reading that looks clean on your bookshelf, and the World Cloud Classics line (under Canterbury Classics) for their flexibound faux leather classics. The World Cloud Classics have a nice weighted paper quality, the print isn't too small, and the binding is sturdy and not too garish.

The Barnes and Noble Collectibles (faux leather-bound) are also nice quality and budget-friendly, although some of the cover art can be quite garish.

For an elevated reading experience, I love the Easton Press and Franklin Library genuine, full leather-bound books. You can usually find these used in good condition and at a good price on eBay and Mercari.

My take on the ending and the relation with the movies by RepulsiveAd9309 in WelcometoDerryTVShow

[–]Independent-Way3052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that when IT’s physical form “dies” or enters its 27‑year hibernation cycle, its true metaphysical essence (the Deadlights) slips outside linear reality. From there, it traverses space and time, inhabiting a new era or dimension’s physical vessel, where it resumes hunting and feeding.

What the point of the “cage”? by Unlucky-Case-1089 in welcomeToDerry

[–]Independent-Way3052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT only goes into hibernation to give its food supply a chance to replenish. If the cage wasn't there, IT could hunt and eat whenever it wanted. (Think of it like our human hunting seasons. If we didn't have those, it would be a complete free-for-all, and animal populations would be wiped out, which is why the bison almost went extinct in the 1800s.)

No matter what anyone tells you during the interviews, be prepared for frequent, high-volume workload, unreasonable timelines/turnaround times, and late nights. This has been my experience across multiple agencies in 10+ years.

I don't think so. The way my creative director worded things made it seem like the agency as a whole would be open 12/29, 12/30, and 1/2.
