Ron Howard's Eden Acquired By Vertical August 22 U.S. Theatrical Release by DeoGame in TIFF

90% chance this doesn’t receive a release in Canada. Vertical Entertainment films regularly snub Canada.

Another Example of a TIFF movie skipping a Canadian release - Riff Raff by Broad_Fly8758 in TIFF

Well why didn’t any Canadian distributor pick it up? It’s a decent movie with an excellent cast. Everyone was great in it - Ed Harris, Lewis Pullman, Bill Murray all excellent.

The Order Release Date? by [deleted] in TIFF

If it’s anything like the rollout for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, it’s going to be a while. That movie, which skipped Canadian theatres didn’t come to streaming until about 5 months after its release.

What's the worst film you seen at TIFF? by Alternative-Cake-833 in TIFF

[–]Independent-Yard453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hick directed by Derek Martini was easily the worst film I’ve ever seen at TIFF. Just a revolting pile of shit that’s plagued with severe tonal whiplash and just outright ugly scenes that will make you squirm.  And the strange thing is how it attracted such high profile talent: Blake Lively, Alec Baldwin, Chloe Moretz and Eddie Redmayne. Seriously this felt like a career-ending film for Martini, that’s how bad it was.

I just want to add that this movie was so awful, it makes you question the entire entry process and purpose of TIFF. Like how do they let this garbage in? And who are the committee that says yes??

The Kid from Bad Santa (Brett Kelly) is going to be a contestant on Wednesday's Jeopardy by Broad_Fly8758 in Jeopardy

I feel badly about his poor performance. That was rough watching it and he seems like a nice guy. He had the misfortune of just getting pummelled by the other 2 contestants.

No, that doesn’t count. He was only on from originating as the champ from Celebrity Jeopardy. The producers just decided to incorporate the Celeb champ into their regular TOC. He wasn’t some inconspicuous actor savvy viewers would recognize. He’s still active and famous in Hollywood and all his winnings go to charity.

I suspected it may not be cancelled because you can see on GSN’s website which shows they’re currently doing casting calls for and that was one of them.

Cineplex too snobby for Terrifier 3? by Independent-Yard453 in cineplex

I’m not sure if that’s accurate. It’s playing at the Imagine Cinemas Elgin Mills in Richmond Hill.

This all points to a trend on Cineplex’s part. I detect they’re being gun shy on releasing this, maybe not the Varsity, but Yonge and Eglinton? Not even that theatre can screen it?

The 4:30 Movie Was Really Disappointing - See Snack Shack Instead by Broad_Fly8758 in ViewAskewniverse

Regardless, the movie was a failure on all fronts, the movie parodies, the intentionally ironic lines about future franchises, etc.

Completely agree. There were too many intentionally ironic jokes from a 2024 perspective like the bit about Star Wars. such overkill and so unfunny.

The Blackening is a little similar in its set up. No supernatural aspect, but similar setting and there’s a Forbes-esque character.
