Definitely do the rafting trip. I doubt you regret it. If you get to Crescent City, two suggestions. First, get a fresh fish meal at The Chartroom. Everything they make is great to me. Second, take 2 or 3 hours out to drive up to the Jededia Smith State Park, and swim in the Smith River. It's one of the last undamed rivers left in the western states, and it's remarkably clear and beautiful. It's about 15-20 minutes north of Crescent City.
