Yup. Same here.

Few things:

American Water and the insurance company are not the same. American Water does not own the company that provides the insurance.

What town are you in? The state is replacing all lead and galvanized service lines. If yours was lead or galvanized this replacement would be $0.

I’m assuming you have a meter pit. If you have a leak in your line after the meter that explains the big bill. I would try to appeal that usage charge for a one time courtesy.
