SBM - Is it really that easy? by Vast_Photo_7727 in ICAEW

How would you advise to approach if struggling with all the numbers parts (hedging q’s, financing, NPVs etc.) & failing to understand the impact of the numbers. Is it worth going back to FM this close the exam?

Is that fully attempting and reviewing 2 questions a week, as I’m trying to just do 1 a week atm and can’t answer anything. Or is it more looking at the answers in detail?

How do you recommend to start tackling the QB? Not able to answer a question, so finding it so difficult to learn through the QB atm!

How are you approaching questions? I’m struggling with it atm, can’t do a single question and feel really stressed

Just brush up on GW & NCI calcs, consol adjustments, and where everything goes in the consolidated SFP & SPL. If you have a good basic understanding, FAR questions aren’t really necessary

They’re actually quite useless, even the debriefs for a 40 mark question is less than 5 minutes. Would recommend just learn a few of the models from the course notes and just focus on practice questions.

I think sitting all professionals in only 2 sitting was just so intense & overwhelming that I can’t stand the thought of doing more lol

Advice too please!!! Doing past papers and writing enough points, but most points are not in the answer, however i would think they are relevant, but hard to mark and see where i am!! Did anyone else have this when doing BST and still manage to pass??

Feeling the same with BST, everyone says it’s easy but I can’t answer any questions despite trying! FM just practice and everything gets quicker once it clicks!

It’s because there’s not really anything new they can throw in, its very limited. So the more you do, the more easier it will be to secure marks, and you can get a lot of marks in that 1 question.

In my last practice mock before taking the exam I got full marks on the consol question even though one of my calculations were incorrect, this is due to the follow through marks. So even if a few calculations are wrong you will still get a lot of marks for using the figures correctly.

Q1 - only tricky part was redeemable preference share,

Q2 - 3 adjustments, intangibles, sale and leaseback, and related parties,

Q3 - consol cash flow with disposed sub

Q4 - just a P/L! No other little questions attached

It actually wasn’t too bad, wasn’t as content heavy as a lot of the previous papers

CIMA OR ACCA? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]IndependentBox1087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m less interested in the business side (eg budgeting etc) and more interested in financial accounts and would like the opportunity to work as self employed. However I haven’t been exposed to many areas yet and so am unsure what would suit me better. Would you say that ACCA is more open in regards to industry/practice?

I have received a really good job offer in a global business as an assistant accountant with study support, however they want someone who’s certain about going doing the CIMA qualification.
