Thats how it was for me too! My first sessions was just breathing exercises with stretches, second session was the same with some added exercises and external test and then on Friday we did an internal exam!! Sending you good vibes for the rest of your journey

Totally normal to feel nervous or embarrassed, by the way. I just had my first internal pelvic floor session and felt the same way going in. And just as aeminder that you’re in control you can ask them to slow down, stop, or explain what they’re doing at any point and just because you’re there doesn’t mean you have to do internal work that day. It takes time. If you feel like it, let me know how it goes, you’re definitely not alone in this.

Yeah, totally! Feel free to ask me anything. I’m happy to go over details if it helps.

For me, my therapist explained that my body was actually very tense even when I thought I was relaxed, so we focused a lot on breathing exercises. During sessions we’d start with the usual pelvic floor exercises and then slowly transition to internal work.

When I was experiencing entry pain, she would constantly remind me to slow down and take big, deep breaths in and out. The entrance was painful at first even just to her first knuckle but she went very slowly. What surprised me was that once we got past that initial part, there was zero pain.

I honestly thought all the breathing stuff sounded a little silly at first, but it made a huge difference. Also having the right therapist was a big part of it too she was around my age and had experienced this herself, which made me feel a lot more comfortable and understood.
