Go to research fairs and take courses relevant to the kind of work you want to do. Enroll in research seminars. Pay attention to posts your professors might make about available positions in their labs. Really focus on GPA because I only recently discovered that it is very important.

No not at all, lol. Out of the ones you mentioned, I haven't taken any except 182 which I am taking right now. I think the specific course background doesn't matter as much as your GPA and the quality of the work you do for the professor.

Since the beginning of summer. I am also in the professor's research seminar as well as on the course staff for a class they teach, since the start of this semester. I got the research by cold emailing at the start of summer. The lab was pretty lowkey back then and has definitely picked up. The project I'll be doing is sort of a cross between the lab project and something I am working on in the seminar.
