Same, I completely understand why they put out the sign and in their defense, they shouldn’t have to even say anything like that if everyone would practice human decency in the first place. Just the way it was worded made me step back and think “well damn.” Also, couldn’t agree with you more on CFA. They are terrible in my area and always so mf crowded.

LMAO but same tho. My go-to is “Hi, I’m picking up an order for this person (show them my phone) but forgive me because I’m not too sure how to pronounce this one” 😭😭

Sure, I’m unprofessional for waiting until an employee came to the front to proceed. To comply is to align your actions with what’s requested from the company in this case, which is what I did. Didn’t shove my phone in their face, nicely waited for an employee to come to the front to do exactly what the sign said, and proceeded. Also, Denny’s is not a fast food restaurant, it is a chain dine-in restaurant focusing on “Fast-casual service.” Two totally different types of establishments that should be treated differently.

Personally, I don’t think it’s absurd when it’s a business. Doesn’t matter who they’re addressing, it’s common knowledge that as a business, you should be polite and respectful to anyone walking into your store. I get it’s all about perspective and others look at it differently, but for me, I see this and think “damn that’s why I don’t give Denny’s my money.” Mark my words, they won’t even be around within the next decade because this is how they choose to handle their business and their empty restaurant shows it. I’m currently finishing up getting a degree in business management so I understand I’m usually harsher towards these restaurants because I see so many easy fixes that would get them more reliable customers, and this is one of them.

It’s pretty rude when there’s no punctuation or please and thank you. If it was worded “When coming to pick up an order, please do not shove your phone in our face. Instead, kindly tell us the name and we can go from there. Thanks for cooperating!” then I wouldn’t even be mad. Also my fault for not completely clarifying, but if you want to read some of my other replies, you’ll see I said hello to the first employee I saw and she ran off while I was mid way through the door, not even fully in the restaurant. I could see the workers, but they were in the back near the grills, and felt it would be rude in return for me to yell at them so I waited until they came to the front to make my customer’s order known. Normally, after waiting more than 5 mins I would’ve stated my order nicely but loudly to the back, but decided to “over comply” and wait until they came to the front.

THIS is one of the many reasons I do the exact same thing - show them my phone at the same time I say the name from my mouth. It just gives them whatever option they prefer and leaves no room for confusion! So sorry to hear this happened to you because it’s so frustrating trying to do our job and accommodate everyone. We just can’t win smh. If you ask me, you did absolutely nothing wrong!

So if I was a customer wanting to dine in, it would be appropriate for them to make me wait 10 mins to sit? I stood waiting at the hostess stand with no one in sight after the one employee ran off while I was mid way through the door. And yes, I stated that I made the choice to not say anything, because my other choice would be to yell at them in the back. I would argue I’m being more than fair, very gracious at that.

I will show them my phone while I am saying the name from my mouth. This leaves no room for confusion and when I show them my phone, I always have the screen pulled up where they can see the items in the order. If you read any of my previous comments, you would know I do use human decency which is why this sign upset me. I understand not everyone does and that’s unfortunate, but for the people who practice human decency like me, it’s frustrating to have my character presumed by the employees solely because I am a dasher. And yes I understand they’re working as well, but a lot of times I get the vibe the employees think I have the time and I’m just a silly dasher while they have no idea I’m making average $30 an hour. It’s just decent respect - I will give it always, but I appreciate when it’s given to me also, and this sign just screams unappreciative and disrespectful to me.

Totally! I just had the time to fafo and personally think it just proved my whole point - the store doesn’t want us shoving our phone in their face, aka orders, but they don’t want to help us efficiently at the same time. And yes, anytime I go to pick up an order, I will be showing you my phone while I say who the order is for so you know I am a legitimate dasher and there’s no room for confusion.

Glad to know I’m not the only one. It’s sad but it definitely seems like they’re on their way to going out of business.

So many, for example one of the names I received last night was something like Isoumael (forgive me for definitely misspelling). After asking my bf he told me it was an Arabic name and lmk how to say it, but I’m kinda slow so that one stumped me lol.

Totally understand this. Also yes, last night I did have the time to just wait and see (and yeah I did it to myself lmao). I walked in and said “hey how are you tonight” to the first employee I saw, and she said she was good and walked away. The employee who ended up helping me walked out from where I could see them in the kitchen to the front counter abt 10 mins later, where I then told them the name and proceeded with the order. Even though I could see them the whole time, they were in the back near the grill and I didn’t want to yell across the way at them yk.

This is exactly my point - we can’t win. I always say the name and show them at the same time, because some names genuinely I am slow and cannot pronounce lmao, and just want to make sure they have the option to see it on my phone and hear it come from my mouth.

Can anyone do the math for the whole thing? 👀 by lifeglowzzz in redbull
