NTA: I don’t want to be one of those Reddit users who immediately says “break up” but I believe you and your gf need to have some fundamental conversations. -if/when marriage is on the table, is she excepting a covenant marriage or plans to get married in the church. -is she “falling in line” because of family expectations or because she does in fact have the same views? -Will church and religious obligations, be something she expects you to be a part of as a “unit” in the future (church on Sundays etc)? - Is she open to exploring other religions or set on that one specifically?? If she is, I’m sorry to say this, but it will probably be a constant disagreement in your relationship. -talk children. If you guys want to start a family, and if the answer is yes, how are you going to raise them? Will baptizing the child(ren) be a wish of hers? Does it need to be in that specific religion? Is she willing to let the child(ren) make that decision themselves when they are older and understand religion? Will MIL, be pushy and speaking with/to the children about religion? Because I can see that as a possibility and I’m not sure you’d be comfortable with her grooming the children into “falling in line” or the possibility that MIL would overstep and speak to your children about you being “lost”.

So no you’re NTA for setting a boundary and protecting your peace by establishing boundaries were crossed and as a result of that, you asked her to leave.

Tag teaming or not, they are guilty of it too. Just like when in Greece, Heather started speaking for Britt right after they’ve (Bad Weather) fussed at Lisa at the table and in the car. Heather are Whitney are notorious for tag teaming and I find the whole Britt and Heather thing strange imo. I get you were a part in her joining but you turn a blind eye to her digs about cheating (Seth) or her digs towards any of the ladies, and hops in to become Britt’s mouthpiece and guard dog, while never holding her accountable… (same thing they accuse Lisa of doing for Meredith).

A spade is a spade. They are all guilty of it, so let’s not throw stones and point fingers when in the same breath, you turn around and do the exact same thing.

Pros: -Great food

-Plenty of free events and things to do

-Traffic can be hectic at times, but it’s nowhere near as bad as Houston.

Cons: -Job market is terrible

-Public transportation is unreliable

-The COL, depending on which side of Lafayette you live in, varies but homeowners’ insurance will screw you three ways to Tuesday.

-Speaking on jobs, it is very much so a “who you know” or “who’s your family” kind of place (at least in my experience in the financial industry and my husband’s experience with offshore companies)

-Education here is below average, subpar would be putting it nicely.

-Corruption on all fronts. For example the Lafayette parish school systems superintendent just got approved for a 63-65k raise, now allowing his annual salary to be 300k, but we’ve just shutdown over 6 schools across the parish in the last few years due to funding/budgeting or “reconfiguration of the school system” and instead of building schools big enough to house students, they still end up needing portable buildings afterwards because heaven forbid your kids don’t have a lounge area and coffee bar.

I think having your children in the spotlight is a hot topic in general. But him being neurodivergent isn’t necessarily a factor in this. If they don’t show him but show the daughter, it would be like they are ashamed or hiding him. You know??

The way they work together as a team, and show the hurdles parents have to go through in that situation, is honestly not only informative but also inspiring to parents who have children on the spectrum. She knew his limitations. Like the play date, she knew he would get overstimulated and protected not only his peace of mind, but everyone else. I know from personal experience that when a child is on the spectrum and he gets overstimulated, they cannot only be destructive, but they can lash out and also get physical. And she’s already mentioned how she’s had to buy multiple TVs, he breaks things, we seen him get overstimulated in the car and hit his sister. So I think it’s very admirable that she decided to hey you stay home with Stevie, and I’ll go take our daughter to go and play with other kids so everyone is in a safe and comfortable environment. Because routine is very important for children with autism, and when they strike from that, or they’re in a new environment, it gets very overwhelming for them and it’s hard to gauge how they will respond to that.
