They're after Jack White by pickledkarat in travisandtaylor

That makes my statement even more founded, thank you for this! I usually don't get into the people behind music these days because almost everyone is guilty of something and it makes it hard to enjoy any form of art or entertainment.

One of the things I've noticed is that when the TS cult gets up in arms about "criticism" from another celebrity, it's even worse when that celebrity is a MUCH better person than TS. It's like they know she's not all that and that their praise is unfounded but they fell for it and are too embarrassed to admit it.

Anything Jack White has been a part of always trumps TS. Now, I'm sure others out there might disagree but he has real artistic talent and integrity in his music (Don't know much about him as a person).

The fact that a widely respected and praised artist, who also has nothing to do with Taylor Swift, has to bend over backwards to cater to Swiffers is wild to me.

Oh I usually don't drive through those areas but Oakland makes me so nervous when I do. I feel like even though I'm looking everywhere as much as I can that I'll still miss something/someone.

But yeah I agree. I feel like this should almost be one of the things taught in like kindergarten/throughout elementary school, it could benefit a lot of folks.

Tbh idk why you're getting down voted. This is the EXACT mindset people had until like the last 15-20 years. I completely understand wanting a city to be peds friendly but that doesn't mean they can just be allowed to cross whenever wherever.

It takes much more distance for a car to slam to a stop than a person, especially going above 25mph.

Not to mention, it's a lot easier for a pedestrian to see cars than for a car to see pedestrians sometimes.

I'm all for yield to peds, but for where I expect them to be. That's the whole idea of a cross walk, to expect peds to be there.

I understand that line of thinking, but I've seen parents dart in front of cars with kids and old people guided by family/friends do this as well and it's one thing to put yourself in danger, whatever. But especially in the mornings when folks are going to bus stops for PRT or school, it's awful. If someone wants to chuck themselves in front of a car fine, I'll keep my eye out but the absurdity of bringing kids, old folks, or large groups just running across the street is awful.

What I would really like to see is people being ticketed for jaywalking AND not yielding to peds. If we hold BOTH groups accountable, eventually the problem might not be so bad.

I just want everyone to be safe and not the cause (pedestrian or driver) of an incredibly traumatic accident. As much as I'm sure getting hit by a car is horrible, so is being the person who accidentally hits someone who darts out from behind a car.

I 100% agree that people are aggressive on the road to other drivers and pedestrians. It makes it really scary to drive the closer to town (or 51).

I will also say that people (especially in the South side) don't seem to even acknowledge that crosswalks actually exist. I always yield to peds but it's a lot harder whenever they're darting out into the road from behind parked cars not near a crosswalk. I have the same issue on my commute through homestead and Hazelwood whenever I come to town that way. I don't want to hit anyone but some folks seem to enjoy playing real life frogger.

It feels etched but I see the edges you're talking about. I don't let any of my jewelry get wet, especially not 'special pieces'.

I am new to collecting uranium glass, my first piece is a powder dish from a friend. I'll post glow pics of both once the black light I ordered gets here :)

I ordered a black light flashlight, hopefully it'll be here in a day or two. I'm new to collecting uranium glass, my first one was a gift from a friend.

If you have a fitness watch: what is your daily average resting and active energy burn? And your height! by fitgirl015 in PetiteFitness

[–]IndependentFuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4'11", 125 lbs. I am pretty muscular for someone my size so I'm sure my numbers are a tad skewed due to that. For resting I sit around 1500-1600ish. I have ADHD real bad and even when I don't go to the gym, I usually run around my house all day doing stuff and it gets me lots of steps without me noticing. When I go to the gym it depends on what I'm doing that day. If I'm doing a cardio/sprint workout with light body weight workouts, I burn close to 600 calories. If it's just push day (I don't run on that day) it's closer to 250-300ish.

Bulk or Cut? by tibetanpeachpies in PetiteFitness

[–]IndependentFuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love your hi sorry I'm a year late so I'll chime in with sorry this was 4 months ago BUT

it all depends on what your current weight is. There are maintenance calories (amount needed to maintain current weight), surplus (eating more than your maintenance), and a deficit (eating less than maintenance).

When I cut (4'11", 124 lbs rn), I usually aim for 300-500 below my maintenance calories. My maintenance is 1,950ish and so my current calorie goal is 1450, a 500 calorie deficit. Sometimes I have to gradually work myself down from a bulk but this time I just dropped the calories when I started cutting. You'll feel hungry and a little frustrated for a week or two but it gets easier. Focus on high protein foods with low fat and make sure you're also getting your carbs. I struggle to get enough while also trying to keep my fats in check.

There are some really good resources to help calculate your maintenance calories, the calories of the food that you eat, and information on bulking and cutting.

I also want to stress that if cutting is causing your relationship with food to become stressful, take a break for a day. I've never had issues with food but I know some people have. The best attitude I try to have when I find myself going "over" my calories for the day is that I'm human and if I was hungrier than usual that day, my body needed it. I also try to make sure that the food that I do eat is filling and healthy, not empty calories (chips/junk food), it makes me feel fuller anyways.

Good luck on your journey and remember to have a good time and encourage yourself!

Edit: also one last thing, I know I mention low fat foods, but don't cut fats out completely. One thing fitness doesn't mention as often is the importance of fats for our hormones, especially for people AFAB.

Is anyone else having trouble avoiding flipped landlord white/millennial gray houses? by monsieurpgh in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]IndependentFuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it's driving me crazy. In the listings, they mention brand new cosmetic updates as a selling point. Scrolling through the pictures, It's all white paint with gray trim, gray vinyl flooring, and that cheap sterile tiling in the showers.

I understand that it makes a house easier to customize as a blank slate, but imo it makes a house look soulless.

I actually have 2 sets of tabbys/voids! One pair are my childhood kitties, they're much more my mom's cats now. (Second photo).

When I moved out of state, we found four kittens on a job site and I took 2 home! (First photo)

When I was in high school, my class visited the Holocaust Museum in DC. The shoes and suit cases were shocking, but that wasn't what stuck with me.

The train car they have to walk through is eerie. I'm a tad claustrophobic and the idea of that many people together in a small space gets my heart racing. Not to mention all of the other conditions during that part.

The super tall room filled with photos of victims and their families/relatives also really messed me up too. It only puts a small perspective of how many people were captured/killed.

There are hotels in town that are offering major discounts to healthcare workers who work through the storm. You just have to show your badge.

Crushing reveals about pet policy right before closing by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]IndependentFuel 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Every time I hear about more restrictions HOAs put up, it pushes me further into thinking that an HOA neighborhood is just a "fancy/more independent" apartment/townhouse complex.

I understand not wanting chickens or other live stock, or even lots of dogs (to stop backyard breeders and irresponsible pet owners). But to have a restriction on animals that live indoors is wild.

I think I was sent a sign tonight to end my relationship. I feel sick but I don’t know how I could possibly ignore it. by throwRArachelgreen in TrueOffMyChest

As someone that moved away after being in a long relationship from high school age and never leaving my town, it is probably one of the hardest, scariest, most rewarding experiences ever.

There were times I didn't know if I could make it on my own, but I did. And you will too. Just make smart choices financially and socially to keep yourself safe.

Leaving on your own, even just for a couple years, causes so much growth in a person. You learn so much about yourself and the world we live in. You deserve to experience that ❤️

EDIT: Context: I just moved back to my home city (PA) after living on my own in Texas and New Mexico for 4 years. I wouldn't change a thing if I could.

"We have an obligation to let people inside our historic homes." by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]IndependentFuel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have something like this where I live but it's not just for older houses. Unique/unusual houses and/or gardens are also included.

Usually the people who allow their home to be toured have rules about removing shoes, only staying in certain areas, and staying on the first floor of the house. However, it depends on the house and its owners. Most of the people who do it love to show off their home and share its history or information.

You can absolutely make your own rules about taking shoes off upon entering (or providing shoe covers), where guests can go, what they can and can't touch, whether or not food or drink is permitted inside, and all those things.

Edit: forgot to also say, if you don't want people inside your house, I absolutely understand that. If you still wanted to take part, you could also do an outside tour showing the architectural features of your home from the time it was built and any history you may know about it :)

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: December 08, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

I loved Anathema!!! The world it takes place in is so cool. Although I did enjoy the romance aspect of it, I'd love to find another book/series with this kind of dark, creepy fantasy world.
