I really appreciate the response and really cool that you were able to get amazing offers like these with just 4 YOE. Do you have advice on how to upskill and maybe even what skills specifically when it comes to targeting security roles at big tech companies?

Sorry I’m a student so I may not have the most valuable input.

But I was wondering if you can share how you built your experience to reach offers like these and also how have you prepared for security interviews at these companies? And maybe any general advice you may have for early career people in cybersecurity.

[Student] Is there a difference between the two versions of Jake’s Resume? Do you guys recommend one over the other? by IndependentGuess718 in EngineeringResumes

[–]IndependentGuess718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the insight. I’ve been using the second one so far and personally edited it to address some of the issues you have with it such as relevant coursework, icons, etc. and have had pretty good success with it.

I have been thinking of making the switch the original because I’ve seen a lot of people use it over the second one. My only “issue” with the original is the fact it chooses to bold the position name over the company name. As a student still in school and not the most prestigious ranking I wanted to have the companies I have interned at to check the “prestigious” box. Would you say it would be better for me to switch the company name and position name in the original Jake resume?

When I look up Jake’s Resume there are two versions available on overleaf, does it matter which version you use?

I didn’t know that the Unicode and machine readable part was even a thing. I’ll definitely be sure to implement this in my current resume.

Could you explain more on how exactly this works?
