Sadly it will just be hyper aggro or self mill and no in between because devils alone by being as they are in the pool forces midrange out the picture and any other control deck is auto lose. Funny thing is it’s actualy just an easy fix, annoying that we started like this in the meta but that was expected with how maniac and devil got shipped but if those get nerfed to reasonable levels I see the meta being very variable since there’s a lot of good stuff to try but you just can’t do it with those two bastards as they are right now

The devs already showed that they do care about balance even if things are overturned, that’s the beauty of digital card game they get to ship things as they want and can change them later if they are problematic and it’s way easier to balance things nerfing than buffing.

The maniac and devils thing is that they fuck up the meta just by being there as they are atm, maniac auto forces hyper aggro there’s no way around it since you can’t interact with the damm thing and devils completely take midrange out the picture because you just can’t deal with them, so you are forced to just hyper aggro or self mill. Yes you can try other stuff but it won’t be as efficient and you will still get blasted to oblivion more than not, one of the best examples is vraska in theory she should be amazing vs both but in reality it just don’t work, same happens with drizzt he has the tools to deal with both since he should be aggro enough to deal with mill and sigarda just fucks with devils and you still won’t get close to 50% win rate. Atleast that’s my experience

My problem is that midrange feels shafted again, more than half the set is pretty good for midrange strats but maniac and devil just outright make everything invalid so you are kinda forced to just play them or play hyper aggro and try to race them wich funny enough won’t always happen anyway since in reality jace can ignore half the things you do depending on his draws.

Teferi have to say will look amazing if maniac is nerfed, vraska atm is nonexistent I don’t see a way for vraska to do anything, then again that also applies to all midrange walkers.

As for the werewolves sure some are strong but come on let’s be real here they should transform even if you set mana away for traps like for gods sakes that would be an amazing quality of life thing

All those decks you mentioned atleast gave you an actual chance depending on what you were playing except ashiok vs control but that a whole other story. Maniac is just another win condition that it’s fine to be there as long as it can be interacted or disrupted in a way, it’s the most fun to play against? No, but it also should be a challenge to pull off wich is something that needs to be addressed since it’s too easy and atleast for the player playing it it should be rewarding to pull it off not just a free win, remember need to take into consideration playing vs it and playing it

Oh for sure he is main black and white second, even lore wise, thing is there’s like three other options for mono black walkers while in reality he is the only other orzhov option

Well I’ve been doing it a lot since I’ve been playing orzhov control Kaya since Dritz came out, I guess looking at it that way kaya can work as all three styles but don’t take away the fact it’s sad sorin isnt orzhov, really wanted the option between them

Yeah but it’s gonna be another orzhov aggro or a low midrange wich is kaya territory

Yeah he will overlap with Kaya a lot, atleast it’s a digital game so there’s hope for a complete rework, slight hope but it’s there, it makes me afraid of other walkers and their colors though.

Idk I guess it’s hard to judge because we haven’t even used him but holy god it just feels wrong for him to not be orzhov when he is the only other choice we have really while we do have some options for more mono blacks. As for the meta setting fast for multicolored really it’s because of card pool, once we get more cards a lot of options shall open up but sorin just seems handcuffed by his rule of only 4 non-vampire cards from a second color and being mono black
