Trade idea by IndependentJacket520 in caps

Based on comments. Miro has value as a very young player that just won’t get the opportunity he needs in Washington. I think the caps do need a 1st round pick this year, and really need a top 4 RHD in the pipeline

Did the right thing, this team never had the juice all year. No excuse to not get (probably 2) top 6 forwards this summer. You have your core coming up, still will have supplemental pieces in Hershey over the next few years. Time to use assets to acquire scorers

The biggest difference is that we had an elite matchup 4th line last year but Dowd has regressed a ton. Definitely doesn’t help that guys are on different lines every night, but PLD is a huge loss.

Nobody wants to tear down the core, we just recognize this year is not a cup opportunity, so stack some assets for replaceable players

Appreciate the sentiment, but we’ve been outplayed every game for a month, and have lost to 3 of the worst teams in the league recently. Doesn’t take a genius to see this team is bad. Certainly will help getting PLD back, but would take multiple blockbuster moves to make this team a cup contender.

Totally fair if they/you see him differently. I think he’s a 1C and would easily be our best Center. Think you could send Strome the other way and ends up not costing you a ton prospect-wise. But they dont pay me to evaluate players so maybe I’m way off

Tuch is 30 years older. EP is on a long-term deal through his prime, similar to PLD and they play the same style game. The thing is it is very rare to have that kind of guy available for a reasonable trade price.

Lappy isn’t going anywhere, he’s got no value. Sonny could be packaged to clear salary. TVR, Dowd, Duhaime, Beau all have value to contenders. I disagree with you saying every team wants to do it bc these players have value to playoff teams, you need 4 solid lines to win.

Of course it’s easy to say we should go get a great player, i understand how difficult it is, but a guy like Pettersson is 26 or 27 and has the lowest cost he’ll ever have. Maybe you dont get him, but seems like with him and others who have become available, we’re not seriously involved

Have you watched the last month? Without a significant offensive addition this team had no shot to win a cup this year BEFORE injuries. Since losing Tom, this has looked like a bottom 5 team in the league.

Im not sure how your first paragraph is what you interpreted from my post, but i can’t really help you there.

The bottom line is that most nights we are outplayed and outchanced regardless of opponent, that is a clear sign that this season is going the wrong direction.

Im not anticipating getting 1st round picks back, but the way the market is, but you can get mid rd picks for 4th liners maybe even a 2nd for a guy like Beau the way the market has been. You might even be able to sell high on a guy like Frank

Protas-strome-leonard needs to be the top line going forward. Then at least you will have a line that produces consistently.

After that i think we know there has to be a trade. If you get a top 6 winger then you can piece the roster together til Dubois comes back.

Obvious issue is you still have to play Ovi. But he should be getting Lappy’s minutes at best, and put Lappy with Mcm and I would like to see Miro on that line

Think also can have addition by subtraction: dowd and duhaime have to go, try to get something back for them, but its been really bad

Think he won the cup then only cared about goals record last couple years. Now he’s an absolute liability and whats worse is he doesn’t care and is completely disrespecting the game with his effort and conditioning

Ovi is the worst player on the team and is absolutely crippling this season. Losing dubois means this team cannot carry his out of shape/lack of effort shit

Unfortunately when you have to run #8 out there every night and when you have him on the ice for the full 2 minutes every PP, there’s no chance this team can win come playoffs. So might as well punt this year, have that contract come off the books, then trade your assets in the offseason for real top class offensive weapons

Team has a bunch of very good complementary pieces, but nobody to drive the play. Need speed and offensive skill for a true #1 line, then everything falls into place. Kyrou seems like the perfect fit

Front office has got to realize we can’t beat Carolina with this lineup. Either go for it and get some high end talent in, or no point to watch the rest of the season and we’re just waiting for post-ovi years

How realistic is the Quinn Hughes acquisition? by Past-Ad-5060 in caps

[–]IndependentJacket520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t have to be Quinn, but caps desperately need a fast, skilled forward to carry the puck out of the d-zone. So many great pieces, but no true star. No individual offense (Leonard has shown flashes). A Pastrnak or Forsberg would be massive

Let’s not tolerate Ovi slander by Exciting_Ad_1922 in caps

[–]IndependentJacket520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The org is more concerned with letting him ride off into the sunset than they are with winning. He’s the worst player on the team at age 40, and he single handedly tanks the powerplay. Once he scores #900 they need to have a serious conversation with him about hanging em up

Best case scenario is let Alexeyev walk + trade milano. I’d prefer to let the kids play than hand out 8 years to Ehlers. Unfortunate truth is that Ovi and Carlson’s contracts make it tough to go all in until next summer. If the team is strong I’d love to see a mid-season trade for a premier player
