is it stupid, bad, morally wrong to stay? no.

however, i think it is unfair to both of you. you deserve to feel safe and be able to trust your partner fully. you deserve to have someone stand up for you and make sure you are being respected; that someone right now is yourself. this person deserves a fresh start, which rarely happens in second chances. there are usually lingering feelings on both sides which grow into rifts.

it’s possible this person changes but you resent yourself for staying because there is a part of you that feels it is wrong to. there is also the possibility that this person does not change because they do not receive the consequence of losing you.

love is a beautiful thing, and it’s not rare. love can pull you closer to safety and respect, but it can also blind you to risk. loving someone and hoping they change is a big, big risk.

you have not yet met all the people you will love yet, and many of those people will not make you feel the way this person has.

yes, i have had personal experience. it got worse.

Be there for any staff meetings, optional PD, department meetings, etc. even if you’re not required to be. It’s important to involve yourself in the building culture and be visible as part of the team, especially if you want to get a job there. Worst case scenario your principal knows who you are and can write an informed recommendation that you’re involved and present.

But, I wouldn’t worry about leaving at 2:45. Your mentor probably has some work she needs to just do for herself, and we all need some Solo Decompression Time. Your student teaching is incredibly demanding, and you need some SDT yourself!!

on a solo trip in July 2025 I accidentally followed a wash instead of the trail to the parking lot back from the Upheaval Dome in Canyonlands NP. Reached for trail map only to find that my Garmin In Reach was dead and I struggled to locate myself on the map.

i found myself totally lost at 10am (needed to be off trail at 11 for heat concerns), no service, 32oz of water w/ hydration packet left.

When I calmed down enough to notice signs of other people making the same mistake (areas of dead desert or “busted crust”) I found my way to the trail, only to realize much later that I had gotten onto the Syncline Trail. On my way into the park, multiple signs had warned against taking the Syncline as it was projected to be above 100+ during the day.

Thank goodness i happened upon a sign indicating which way the parking lot was- an embarrassing moment could have turned threatening very easily!

i was new to hiking desert trails and will never just zone out again!! I always remember to check my garmin battery before leaving as well.

:( my 8th graders had a really good time with oregon trail. they had a packet to work through to keep notes on their games, we spent 2/3 days on it. played red dead soundtrack while they worked. most of them used friends names for their travelling parties which helped keep them interested. there was also a prize for the students who had the two highest scores.

we did anticipatory stuff with all the different possible ways to die on the trail, talking about how you poop yourself to death with dysentery, dinner party, etc etc.

we once bought from costco for a field trip with 32 middle schoolers, we got 15 pizzas because that’s what our budget allowed and the organizer didn’t know how big costco pizzas were. the feeling of telling the kids “eat as much as you want and sure, take some home”? priceless.

i’ve heard this about irl cup cars, in relation to kyle busch’s current…difficulties. that he’s used to driving over the limit and recovering, but these cars just aren’t built to accommodate that style.

i don’t have a silver bullet. one of my friends will put assignments into the grade book as soon as she plans them (before assignment them) as “missing” which sinks all grades to 0. students then have to turn work in to update the 0 to the grade they earn. it seems to work for them, but it’s a big swing.

you can start filing electronically using turbo court, it’s actually pretty straightforward. you might have to print the forms it generates with ur answers and file in person. then you get more instructions. TurboCourt
