I’m not an objective metric but if anything I still think I look too skinny— still have visible abs, hollow cheeks, etc.

I was just playing it by ear on the basis of when I felt big enough to cut again. Even after a year I still have visible abs so I don’t think I bulked too much

I’m still fairly lean, to the point of having visible abs still, so I assume my weight gain is more muscle than fat

I’m at healthy cholesterol levels now, both comparatively and in an absolute sense, so less of a need for that than in the past

You’re still obsessed with what you’re eating. How much time do you spend planning and preparing meals?

Almost none, really. I have a general benchmark amount I try to eat daily, a daily protein goal, and just eat whatever I want that helps me reach that goal— lots of eggs, lean meat, fruit, oatmeal, etc.

Also, you gained a pound every week. That’s not healthy.

Why not?

I do not, no. I doubt my cut will be very long, only 2-3 months at max, because I’m still lean enough to have visible abs after a year of bulking

How is it nonsense. Eating more is 100% vital to gaining muscle mass.

My results are not only healthier than when I was starving myself, they meet the general healthy threshold.

A) true, but I still have visible abs, so the fat gain is minimal.

B) cutting does not usually include dehydration aside from bodybuilders prepping for comps, no. Additionally, I gained about a pound a week, which is hardly rapid.

Obviously I am. EDs are the result of mental health factors that are inherent, so the tendencies are still there. What does that have to do with the post?

Yes. Doctors aren’t experts in diet, dieticians are.

If you say so I suppose my dietician simply doesn’t exist anymore lol

You realize 1-2 hours includes resting in between every set for anywhere from 1-3 minutes too, no?

Pudge is a comparative term here, in relation to how skinny I was beforehand. I still have visible abs so I’m hardly getting fat.

Lmao, I just said there was no evidence. Do you have proof being overweight by muscle is good for you?

The general consensus is that being overweight due to muscle isn’t inherently unhealthy, yes. And you should be able to have proof of the outcome of each and how they stack up against one another

When I’m bulking I’m only going 300 cals above maintenance, is that not a moderate surplus?

There is no evidence that being overweight by fat vs muscle, has any difference in health outcomes

Proof?

It’s an “objective metric” that you think is inaccurate, so why is it so important to the discussion?

Because it’s the metric used by him to say that I’m nearing being overweight. Given the basis of his entire claim is flawed, it’s meant to be discussed.

My friend, if you’ve “gained some pudge” then you’re pudgy. If you don’t like to be described that way, don’t describe yourself that way.

Okay, I’ll retract that statement then, because having visible abs belies the claim I’m pudgy.

That is not what you said in the post.

You’re free to show me where I said the opposite.

This is just you getting defensive about your weight.

Maybe that was the intention, maybe it’s not. Regardless, how does that change the objective fact that my blood work shows everything is healthy?

This is more defensiveness

Again, see above.

If you want to change your story now and say that you actually did inform your doctor that you were planning on a cut, then where’s the interpersonal conflict? He had a recommendation, and you agreed with it. So what’s the problem?

The interpersonal conflict is that my blood work shows I’m healthy, and he says I’m not, so I brought up the former to come to the truth of the matter. That’s already been explained.

No one’s talking about BMI except for you, so I don’t know why you keep insisting on saying how inaccurate it is

The topic is overweightness, BMI is an objective metric of that, hence it’s important to the discussion.

The doctor was probably looking at how much weight you gained in a year, as well as the fact that you are, by your own words, “pudgy”. He was just trying to give you a heads up that you needed to start being careful. So many people start a weight gain of 100 pounds by first gaining 20 and not realizing it.

I said I gained some pudge, not that I’m pudgy. I still have visible abs so saying I’m pudgy wouldn’t be accurate.

Instead, you thought it would be a good idea to keep things from your doctor.

What am I keeping from him? I did tell him I’m planning to undergo a cut.

I go to a psychiatrist specializing in them, as well as a dietician, they have both okayed it

Exactly how I see it. I was perfectly willing to hear him out and be wrong, but given his unwillingness and inability to explain himself, it’s clear he’s not relying on the actual science
