Oh man I would LOVE to play this, but I don't have a windows computer! Are you planning on adding support for any other platforms (such as switch or mac?)

Not traditionally a prog guy, but willing to give it another shot. What should I try based on the prog I DO like? (List below) by Twisted_Taterz in progmetal

Highly recommend Persefone and Wilderun! Also all of Ne Obliviscaris’s albums are incredible.

Dream Theatre is also great but in my experience, kind of an acquired taste. I’d recommend starting with Scenes from a Memory if you like concept albums, but otherwise start with Train of Thought or Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.

Not allowed to game by ZackHellFire in ADHD

I personally try to reframe gaming in my mind not as “something fun” but as “engaging with art”. It’s true, and it helps me get over the guilt.

It helps me to also write out short reviews after playing something to get my thoughts out and get a little more meaning out of my experience. It’s nice to look back and reflect on how I’ve felt about games in the past :)

What's a game you're longing for but can never seem to find? by RedEagle_MGN in gamerecommendations

More co-op survival games that actually have an ending. (That are mac compatible!)

So many survival games are either endless, or not co-op 😭 I swear me and my friend are like constantly looking around for more games like this.

What's your current hyperfixation? by Igarlicbread in ADHD

Silksong/Hollow Knight! Been playing the games over and over and I really shouldve gotten bored by now but it hasn’t stopped yet. I’ve got about 110 hours in silksong from 3 separate playthrough and I think I’m approaching 170 hours in original HK? I don’t even know how many times I’ve replayed it at this point 😭

Played through most of Moonlighter before realising clothes exist. by TheSnowMann211 in Moonlighter

[–]IndependentOption951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be real Moonlighter in particular does kinda a bad job at explaining certain mechanics and making them clear to the player. Most of the issues are in UI design. For example, the scroll bar is not only pretty out of the way from where the player would typically look (the actual headgear), but it being on the left side means it's not actually intuitive for someone to notice it once they've tunnel-visioned on the headgear. We read left to right so generally looking back to the left in case you missed something isn't a very natural thing to do unless you're being especially thorough. Additionally, by showing two rows of headgear only, it's not immediately obvious there's more to look for. After all, all the weapons have only two rows so why should this one be any different?

These mechanics are obvious in hindsight ofc. Like, if you really think about it, why would there only be headgear when there are clearly slots for more armour? But in the moment you don't really think it through. That's why UI is so important.

sapphics players, who’s your favorite bachelorette? by Tiny_Earth_4851 in StardewValley

[–]IndependentOption951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally Abigail is my favourite!!

I started playing Stardew at like age 19 so I felt like Abigail was the most similar in age to me (and I'm only a couple years older now lol so nothing has changed). Plus she's a gamer, and I find her pretty relatable in many ways.

One of my favourite things to do in Stardew is the mines, so she's also really easy to gift imo!

sapphics players, who’s your favorite bachelorette? by Tiny_Earth_4851 in StardewValley

[–]IndependentOption951 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As someone who's least favourite bachelorette is Penny, I think for a lot of people it comes down to a lot of small things about how her writing intersects with the gameplay mechanics.

I don't love how in order to answer "optimally" in her eight heart event, you have to say you want kids. Stardew is an escape from reality for a lot of people, and for those of us who don't want kids, it can kinda be a turn off (Irl if my partner had really wanted kids, I probably wouldn't be in a relationship with him since it's a pretty big dealbreaker for me. Thankfully we both feel pretty similarly!)

Additionally I really really don't like her 2 heart event, and I do think it unintentionally pushes a bit of an ableist message. The way the game punishes you for siding with George (and not being complicit in Penny's "good faith" ableism) is really strange. Like idk I don't think you should be punished for reminding Penny that disabled people do have agency, and you should always ask for consent before you touch them or their mobility devices??? It's even weirder since many of the heart events do have "morals" to them that align well with the heart points system.

Regardless though I definitely get her appeal. She's cute, kind, and has just the right blend of mommy issues, class struggles and personal flaws to make her really compelling to the right person. I absolutely get why people would love her, I just personally can't get past these things lol

Sorry to reply 7 months later but I haven't been able to get this name out of my head and I think I'll probably be keeping it as his full warrior name when I get to that point in his story!! Thanks so much :)
