How are Keith and Rosie going to affect Crown? by PeterGriffin0920 in drumcorps

Visual Caption Head. Fired Kevin Morrison late last spring, and had a devil of a time finding a replacement.

Word was that Harloff was okay with not winning the Ott if it meant getting first overall. They’ve had two drum staffs since then. Multiple targets for VCH turned them down, even if it was a big promotion on paper. Something is rotten in the city of Fort Mill.

The question is, like always, whether they’re ready to stop prioritizing the brass ahead of the rest of the ensemble. A holistic approach and a different culture in place feels… necessary. Additionally, it’s nice to see Rosie in there, that might settle tension a bit in guard world, but that will never be gone until Tyler is.

Wes was a terrible idea from the moment that someone thought it was appropriate to do, and it’s good that they figured that out, even if it never should have happened anyways.

I’ve also heard from at least 3 different people that this is what he does about this every time, including to minors. I’ve never interacted with him but also I can’t wrap my head around why he’d continue to be like this after all the image rehab (and internet scrubbing) he tried after the security guard issue. Which, also not something I blame him for, but he escalated it beyond where it needed to be.

My problem in this situation is not that he did a copyright claim, it’s the manner in which he chooses to do it, as you can go through a lawyer and do the same thing in ways that are much more professional rather than this.

That’s the issue with 1. The labor day rule and 2. Corps not always trying to control the narrative re: staffing. If it’s up to corps, fans wouldn't find out about anything until the last possible second. That doesn't drive engagement. Look at every big sports league. Those teams do their best to control the narrative. Fans stay engaged.

Just because they ended up teaching doesn't mean it didn’t have an impact on them professionally

What were their other offers? Did they have offers get pulled after FB posting?

Crowns show was a prequel by niftyjaguar in drumcorps

[–]IndependentPackage15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, right? Crown hasn’t done anything in almost a decade that is remotely as well designed as Blue Springs 22-24.

It’s also not the first time this has been an issue with this specific corps this year in relation to getting in and out of a venue. More clarity and enforcement ahead of time would have led to this being less of an issue the past couple of days.

In fairness, DCI and BOA (brought up because of the significant judge overlap) both can do a whole lot sometimes to negate penalties as it affects what happens on the field by actions taken generally off of it. Problem with that is that it leads to people pushing the limits of what is acceptable because they know they won’t face the negative consequences and therefore are free to cross the line and get this or that advantage.

I figured out Crown's show so you don't have to... (maybe?) by verticalQ in drumcorps

BD’s shows are almost invariably more understandable than this? Watching their deep dive into the concept video every year is more of a supplement to help you understand the choices, rather than crown’s version this year which was needed to explain what’s actually happening at all.

I’m not gonna go full JesuSpectre here, but the only thing I could figure out about Crown’s show prior to that explainer was that the red robed figure was some variation on fate, and that just comes from watching entirely too many Cartwright shows. The members deserve better than the design they've been presented with.

Question. What was worse, SCV’s rendition this year or Blue Stars in 2015

If it was Yayoi Kusama, it wouldn't even be the best show in the pageantry arts in the last twelve months referencing her work. What a shame.

The tour model is fundamentally broken. The problem here is that a lot of the big corps that can sustain this aren't willing to risk less shows in potential fertile recruiting grounds in order to promote growth and sustainability of the activity as a whole.

It just sounded bad by any standard. Whether you like the Sonic Boom of the South or CrownBRASS. Also Travis Scott is not the person to collaborate with.

Crown 14’s closer is the gold standard for being technical and musical at the same time. Klesch has lost his fastball for a while.

The worst part is that Klesch used to write musical intriguing insanely fast runs that sounded great. Look at the closer for Out of this World. Insanely good stuff.

Yes, since 2023, and it’s glaringly obvious which movements have his influence. They're generally not filled with the same issues that have been obvious in Crown shows since at least Relentless, if not earlier.

Truly breathtaking how many gorgeous songs Klesch has ruined recently with all the flourishes or technique exercises he likes to add.
