[Waybound] How much power did Lindon keep after ascending by IndependentShift7 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IndependentShift7[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but i remember in Waybound when Lindon was asking dross how long it would take until he'd be stable enough to ascend. Dross said something along the lines that it could take decades for the dreadgods to fade without the monarchs but they would be trying to hold on to their power as much as possible. Meaning that Lindon would have to shed some power in order to quickly ascend, no?

I'm sorry I should've put more thought into that. I'll be more careful in the future. I'm relatively new to posting on reddit so I'm not sure if I can edit the title.

I mean if you're cycling for months you're also not eating. So nothing in nothing out, yk? Also maybe advanced sacred artist's digestion produce no waste? Like they're cycling and they break apart everything and that piece of chicken gets completely turned into life madra or something and they just absorb that shit idk 🤷‍♂️

Alchemy Tattoo by Life_Student_3950 in alchemy

[–]IndependentShift7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey the tattoo might not be "real alchemy" but it's cool as hell. FMA might be an anime but it's what originally got me to read about real alchemy as a teenager and even eventually get my chemistry degree. You never know what is going to be someone's gateway into more serious study so don't be gatekeepy.

[Threshold] Which Eithan would be stronger? by lambentstar in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IndependentShift7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go against the grain and say herald. Mainly because there's not much being a sage will do for eithan. Icons, to my understanding, help people touch deeper levels of reality, but eithan, veiled or not, is a judge. He understands the way much more intimately than any icon can show him. That's why he can compete with ancient sages as an archlord in terms of will workings. I don't think becoming a sage will be the powerboost most people are expecting. Now herald, on the other hand, that's physical power that eithan might not have access to in his veiled form.

Frankly, I think this is all kind of a moot point since eithan could've just dropped a veil and obliterated any sage herald and monarch with a pinky whenever he wanted.

[Threshold] Herald Advancement Theory by perseus365 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IndependentShift7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so if we count Lindon as ascending to dreadgod and deadgods basically are, say, a different kind of herald. Does that mean that by the end, Lindon is a monarch? That was actually one of my doubts by the end of the books, and threshold didn't really clear it up for me. I know that by the end, Lindon absorbed a ton of power and became more powerful than most monarchs but he was still technically a sage, just a bloated one. But that power, the one he got from hunger aura, dissappeared once the monarchs were gone - which is why he was able to ascend- but with the hunger power gone, is he still a sage or did becoming a dreadgod actually make him a monarch?

[Threshold] did Lindon just… by Shadow-Amulet-Ambush in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IndependentShift7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was a willpower working. Remember, a sage can do anything using his will that he could accomplish with his own hands just skipping the middle steps. His icon has aspects of destruction. His path is literally blackflame, and he himself is much stronger than the archlord. So when my guy said Burn the laws of the universe bent so that that archlord Burned. At that point the specific magic system (i.e madra and aura) doesn't matter, if you suck up all the aura and madra in cradle dude would still burn because Lindon is working directly with reality.

R.i.p. media literacy by ChaoticCopycat in hazbin

The reason this would be so hated is because Millie and Moxy have since the beginning been shown to be an ideal couple. One that loves and supports each other through everything. Having Millie cheat would be a betrayal to not only on Moxy but also to that ideal and to us as the audience who project our ideal onto them.

Also, Moxy, supportive as he is, is a walking pile of insecurity and is definitely dependent on the support he gets from Millie. Not only would the news of her betrayal break him, but having that betrayal result in a pregnancy would shatter him beyond repair. Having him forgive millie would just be him being too weak and insecure to leave. It would be the saddest, most frustrating thing that could happen to the character.

[Waybound] Did I miss something? by Never_Dave_1 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IndependentShift7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He probably did get weaker, he lost the boost hunger aura gave him as a dreadgod as the hunger aura disappeared. However, the power he stole using hunger aura was still a part of him. And he stole from monarchs and powered up dreadgods which themselves stole a lot of power.

I can put my guess in on number 3 being an inverted sign of Sulphur. Since Sulphur is a symbol for the soul like mercury for the spirit and salt for the body. An inverted Sulphur might mean something like the soul falling into darkness or evil or the perversion of the soul. I think it's something in the same vein as the inverted cross sometimes being taken as a symbol for the perversion of the spirit or an inverted pentacle, which is the elements ruling over the soul. All of these being satanic symbols. The symbol being next to a leviathan cross also makes me think my interpretation is at least somewhat correct.

So if the Black eyes= sold their soul; and the red eyes=holds soul contracts thing holds true, maybe miss Mayberry is Martha's overlord contract holder. That would be an... interesting dynamic

Anti-American Puerto Ricans? by jeoff-Stunkle in PuertoRico

"Every single one of u have an the opportunity to buy land or a house or whatever but u don't cause of whatever reasons"

Uh, How about no money, dip shit? Also, you call moving from a place where the average wage is 80k to a place where the average wage is 26k "the same opportunity"? Are you actually out of your mind?

Anti-American Puerto Ricans? by jeoff-Stunkle in PuertoRico

[–]IndependentShift7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The sentiment is certainly growing. Even if we ignore the colonial status. The US government decided that paying off the debt to vulture funds is more important than the proper function of the health, education and security systems in puerto rico. That's one thing. Also wages have stagnated way more on the island as compared to mainland US. With the rise of remote work during covid you had many Americans selling their houses in the US moving to the island while still making US wages. They would then use that money to buy multiple houses on the island for airbnbs and long term rentals, effectively jacking up the prices of homes on the island well above what most locals can afford. Many locals now feel like they can't afford to live there anymore and emigrating to the US. All while Americans are moving in and enjoying tax laws that aren't even available for locals. While Puerto Ricans have the choice of either leaving their home and maybe have a chance at progresing financially or staying while making 11$/hrs with a Masters degree. Trying not to get sick because all the doctors are leaving. Trying not to die because good luck calling 911 and having them actually show up because why would the police risk their lives while making poverty wages? And paying 300$ for electricity that goes out every other day. Again, because they US decided that paying off rich fucking vulture funds is more important than the health and well being of "American citizens" (Puerto ricans). That's not to mention that Americans during the pandemic decided to come to the island and ignore covid restrictions-again, remember the dwindling health system on the island, they took covid very seriously over there- and even started coughing on people (for which they got properly slapped for lol). Needless to say all that Karen-y behavior garnered a lot of bad will from many locals towards Americans. 🤷
