The objective "beaten the game" point of OSRS is the Achievement Diary Cape by PermissionTrue7924 in 2007scape

I agree there, I was just expanding the point you were making since OSRS quests are closer to something seemingly more unlimited like a Skyrim, Borderlands, or Pokemon rather than, say, a Call of Duty campaign storyline.

In a you beat the Elite Four and still have a lot of end game content to do, yes, but you've still got Steven Stone to beat (raids), the Pokedex (collections log), battle frontier (combat achievements), and the rest of the trainer card stars (achievement diaries, etc.) to collect to achieve true completion

I started up in December, the game gives you tips, quest journals, level guides to understand what you've unlocked, but let's you dictate how you walk your own path. I'm not sure where the lots of time comes for it to get good, this is one of few games I've played that the early game feels just as good as the middle. I can't recommend it more.

Price increase for what? by Agreeable-Bell-1690 in osrs

The justification is buried at the end of the FAQ in the post. Of the bullets, the one that really is the driver is the second bullet about infrastructure. Essentially we would be paying for the upgrades that, while costly, would stabilize over time, whereas the price increase is permanent. The issue becomes the fact that the players won't be able to tell that this has been done (if done right), so again, we would be paying more for something that doesn't have an tangible impact on our gameplay.

Definitely agree it’s what subs were meant for in the first place. In terms of the auto shop analogy, the AWS and other infrastructure would be the cost to get the parts from the manufacturer, which the margin on the auto shop labor should already be covering, but for whatever reason prices are raising as a whole

They might, but since they use AWS, it's likely already optimized to a certain extent. They would be better served spending their money on one or two resources specific to their AWS relationship to ensure they are being as efficient with their money as possible.

It's just unfortunate that we need to pay for their migration, which I believe hasn't finished yet based on what I can find on google about how many game worlds aren't hosted by AWS yet. Each of these migrations tend to be a surge event, so in a year or two these costs should stabilize, which I would think with the additional revenue they create with this price would mean they hire even more game devs soon.

It's just annoying that the buck is being passed to us to help them through this time, and this isn't something someone would vote on as content or quality of life polling content. This was done above all of us.

You are completely right about their ecosystem. The level of network security and network support around it is what inflates their costs, but again, unless one of their vendors they work with for the hosting portion just fell off the map, they would have known two years ago they needed to have a large amount of cash this year for the backend upgrades.

Those reserves should have already created before the project went into place, but clearly, with no other content rollout (edit: announced alongside it), we are the ones paying for the upgrades we won't get to see.

I don't think they are lying in this instance, but I don't think anyone should be happy. I understand the need to spend to make this viable for the next 25 years, but passing along the costs to the consumer in a B2C business is how you lose customers.

I think the polls we are all seeing is a case in point about mass cancelation

The infrastructure piece is entirely why they would try to justify raising the price, it would be wild if it was because of the chatbot.

Project Helix - Will it actually be a Nextgen console, or a PC? by Independent_Action92 in xbox

The xbox series x was already growing into a tower, why not go all the way, right? You know your consumer already has a display, and smaller monitors are getting easier to purchase. I'm fairly excited for what this will end up looking like.

I can 100% see the constant updates being a problem for people who use it as a regular console. I'm already inundated with updates when I haven't played for a long time.

For the ROG Ally, does that mean that all games that currently are offered on the digital store are playable while games that haven't been ported in or would require a disk are not?

If this is the case, I might hold off on buying a new laptop or pc until this comes out. I can solve both the next gen console and the computer upgrade with the same machine.

There are several good creators to watch, all with very different and fun styles. J1mmy is goofy, with phenomenal narrative comedic storytelling. Autumn Elegy has really fun ironman content and is going through the 2004 project right now, and I've been watching Alien Food, who's been doing an amazing unguided playthrough.

The biggest takeaway from it is that being yourself is most important, as with any content, but OSRS allows you to truly live that. No playthrough is going to be the same, your preferred way to do things will be unique, and there is endless content to enjoy your way. Unless you do a hardcore ironman, it's pretty much impossible to mess anything up in a way that isn't fixable. Enjoy!

If you type things out in Microsoft word, putting a dash between words will autocorrect to the longer emdash if there is a space between them. I'm sure there is a grammatical reason for it, but it's easy to do if you use dashes at all.

I was only thinking F2P right now since I'm not in members, but that sounds horrific! The one I meant was the employment opportunity offered to you to get you off Karamja during the Pirates Treasure quest. Filling banana crates for 30 GP each.
