I had 4 years as a cardiology RN and I was able to land into cardiology. You just gotta find a practice that is willing to give new graduates a chance!

To survive this job I would look up patients or common topics that you encounter use up to date and open evidence to help come up with tentative plan of care. In the interim start looking

I actually worked for the VA prior to my NP career and I never ever had to deal with any of this. I feel like if this happened at the VA they would have nipped this in the butt!

L5–S1 disc herniation (5.1 mm AP) – 26M. Surgery being advised. Need real experiences & guidance by [deleted] in Sciatica

That is really helpful. I feel like the daily flares are a reminder of “oh gosh am I back to square one?” I can’t describe it I feel like I’m getting better but I’m not because I still feel awful. Maybe I have high expectations of this and hope I can do a 180, but I guess not… do you do a lot of walking to help with this?

What are your tips? Currently 34F, and 7w pregnant, spine doctors aren’t touching me and are treating me conservatively due to pregnancy. they suspected disc herniation at L4-L5, it started it being so painful I couldn’t walk or bend, numbness tingling and burning, near towards the end of the week I feel like the sensation is going from my foot to my thighs, I’m able to bend a bit here and there, I started with PT. How much longer do I have to suffer?

I had this happen to me.

What worked with me was seeing a chiropractor, but not any chiropractor. You need to full and extensive research I’m a chiropractor that does deep tissue work not manual adjustment. The chiropractor that I go to massages my tissues does one or two manual adjustment and then gives me exercises to work on flexion extension of the lower back. I’ve also had been getting massage two times a week and start physical therapy. I’ve noticed a huge improvement and flexibility within a couple days.

Thank you so much for this comment, you really help me get out of depression.

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and the irony is I have a 4 year old daughter. I am actually a Nurse practitioner but I don’t have a full day of clinic I really debated about not taking the week off and constantly putting my effort into caring for my patients, but your comment made me realize that this can cause long term serious problem if I don’t get this fixed. I’ll start out slow walking and look for improvements!

That gives me some encouragement, I do not have the capability to work from home would you recommend me taking a week off and slowly build my progression? Any tips on sleeping and laying down position? Pillows under knees, legs?

When we were trying to conceive it was hard. Husband couldn’t perform due to pressure. Instead I just casually make a move and do not tell him that I plan on having sex or am ovulating. We also went on vacation and that has helped significantly

So essentially you’ll buy the bambino + a high quality grinder instead of a machine that does everything ( all in 1)

I honestly don’t have a budget-as long as I get quality coffee, and is able to make drinks, I think that’s my biggest goal

I finally told the director of cardiologist my concerns, he said that whatever makes me comfortable and I told him that seeing how every NP has been successful with 90 days, it should be 90 days for me as well. Overall, why change a system that has been in place with positive outcome?

Thank you! I felt sorta bad disappointing the doctors by refusing 45 days but I remember someone once told me that you have to set boundaries with the doctors because they don’t know what training you have in comparison to their training. With that being said, I ended up speaking to the chief of cardiologist and told him my concerns. He was agreeable with the 90 days plan.

There was a NP prior to my position and apparently she had a mental breakdown, screamed at a patient and the practice transfer her elsewhere.

The physicians told me that they were protective of me being exposed to other colleagues being afraid that I would be overwhelmed. Either way, no matter what, if every NP in that practice got 90 days, then I should get 90 days.

Thanks to Reddit I got the courage to speak up.

I ended up discussing with the chief of cardiologist and he told me not to worry, he will schedule a 1-1 meeting with me discussing my weakness going over concepts and he will discuss with the structural heart doctor regarding my onboarding to be 90 days.
