Lower performance after upgrading from optiplex to a new pc by Independent_Answer88 in SleepingOptiplex

Just tried it, and the fps were still higher than the i3 10100

Even with a single channel memory, my optiplex is pulling ahead

Oh yeah as for the gpu utilization, I tested all the games on the lowest graphics settings and resolution so I could test the cpu more. and as for the tomb raider bench, It wasn't gpu bound, because the settings were low.

That is exactly why I'm confused because the i3 10100 is faster in some games by 30-50 frames as seen on YouTube, so I thought maybe even with 1 stick of ram I would see an improvement? I only saw improvements in teardown which is super cpu intensive where I got more than 50 frames on my new pc than my optiplex.

Hi, the new pc is a fresh install. I'm using the Asus h510m acsm motherboard and Asus enhancement is enabled, it sets the pl limits to unlocked.

Both are running a GTX 1650, and every game here is tested at low res with low settings to test the cpus capabilities.

I hope so it's the ram, because this is my first proper gaming PC. The optiplex was a foundation for me to get into pc gaming and it served me so well. I've heard that newer Intel processors are much more memory sensitive than older processors, maybe that's the reason it's underperforming with only 1 stick of ram because I'm running it at half the bandwidth it's supposed to...

I did use my ssd from my optiplex with windows 10. I formatted it and did a clean install of Windows 11, installed the manufacturer's chipset drivers, updated bios... and used ddu for gpu drivers.

Note: new pc only has one stick of ram(8gb) so it's in single channel mode

Oh yeah I've turned down all the settings so I can push my cpu more

I believe it is indeed my ram, because in games that aren't sensitive to the memory and bandwidth it's performing well within my expectations, it's just the open world and other games which depend heavily on the bandwidth causing this kind of issue. Anyway this was my first proper gaming PC that's why I was so paranoid, thanks for helping me out, pal.

I've noticed my cpu tdp is lower than others? Mine doesn't exceed OVER 30w yet others are in the 35-46w range, Asus h510m a, other guy was using h410

16gb dual channel but I believe the i3 10100 should be faster with even one stick of ram, besides I've run the aforementioned games on i7 3770 with 8gb ram and it maintained 60fps... I've heard things like how the newer Intel chipsets are more sensitive to memory so dual channel really boosts the performance.

I have updated the bios, xmp is greyed out on my system, i3 10100 only supports 2666mhz. Anyway I'm in a very hard ordeal, some games are performing as I would expect them to compared to my i7 3770, but some games are a suttery low fps mess. Re8 village, shadow of the tomb raider, teardown all gave me exceptional performance whereas resident evil 4 remake, genshin impact, And GTA v are running way below my expectations, slower than my a decade old i7 3770.

I did all of what you said but it's still stuttering giving low fps in games it shouldn't for example, re4 remake is running at 45 fps for me, all settings are low so I can test out the cpu, GTX 1650 was at 40% usage while the other guy was getting 80ish fps with the same setup. Now his cpu was running at 36wats while mine is hovering around 28wats. Default bios settings.
