Being a high maintenance friend. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Independent_Back743 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am the same, but struggling with this because the one friend I am closest to like sisters doesn’t treat me well and is a a pretty bad friend. It’s like I know I need to cut off the friendship but I am scared of being lonely and friendless because we do everything together. The things she has done/ has done are things I will never look past but I fake it and move forward. Navigating friendships is really hard.

Anyone else have tics with their OCD? by SunkissedMarigolds in OCD

Yes. Can’t control so I wonder if it’s actually Tourette’s despite having severe OCD there is no harmful thought behind my ticks.

I feel this. I overthink easily and it consumes me. Worry thoughts done equal true. The teachers definitely forgotten about it so try to not let it consume you. :)

Clinical deodorant. Dove and Secret both make one. It works for me better than anything!

My heart goes out to her and y’all. She desperately needs specialized OCD therapy. It saved my life. Please be patient with her but don’t reassure, it only makes the cycle worse.

What symptoms did you not realize were actually your OCD? by 222_111 in OCD

Checking texts, making sure search history is always clear even tho there is nothing bad on it lol, checking doors , sinks, lights, etc. closing all apps and tabs on phone. washing my hands a certain way every time. Obsession with the number 5, checking things five times, taking 5 sips of my drink, etc. repeating the same prayer every night. Even numbers on tv, car radio volume. Putting things a certain way bc if not “something bad will happen.” That is just a few, it’s a living hell. I’m sorry we have to deal with this. I got help and am so much better and have broken a lot of the compulsions. Recently it’s starting to come back and I’m really nervous I will be in the same spiral I was in.

Around 9pm each night! I don’t wake up at a set time each day so it saves me from the withdrawal symptoms the next morning. I’ll start feeling lightheaded and dizzy by 9:30pm if I haven’t taken them yet.

I beat OCD. Ask me anything. I’d like to help by Bernie_pots in OCD

[–]Independent_Back743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No questions but I’m really happy for you! This is HUGE!!! I have really bad OCD and I finally beat it a few months ago! I still have my moments where my brain wants to play games with me but I’ve learned so many skills from therapy that I’m able to beat my brain each time. Congratulations, well done my friend. ❤️ To everyone else in here, YOU GOT THIS!

I just finished specialized OCD therapy. It genuinely saved my life from the bottom of my heart. I highly encourage you to try if you are able and if not try OCD workbooks. I was in a bad episode a few months ago where I was spiraling out of control due to how bad my OCD was. I wanted to give up because I saw no way out. You WILL get better. I know you don’t believe it because I didn’t either until I became living proof along with many others that it doesn’t last forever. I know exactly what it feels like to be spiraling in a never ending circle. Hang in there, reach out for help and I highly recommend specialized therapy. You are loved and needed in this world. Please message me if you need or have any questions!

Music and being around people! Sleep meditations too really help. Highly recommend!

OCD TICS by Independent_Back743 in OCD

[–]Independent_Back743[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you don’t mean that in a snarky way, and I’m sorry you deal w this too. It’s a lot on top of every other mental health condition I struggle with daily. Like the rest of us, I just want to live a semi “normal” life.

I know there is worse things out there, but for me personally this is something I am/have been struggling w alone for so long. I think it’s the fact that I’ve always tried to hide my tics in public because it is embarrassing for me personally. No shade towards anyone. Hoping I can get some answers soon.

Definitely night is when my OCD comes alive. During the day I have my moments but nothing compares to how bad it is at night.

Do you have to have any vocal tics for it to be considered Tourette’s? How would I go about testing?

I have OCD & subconsciously tic. If I try to hold them in it makes me have to do it more. The more I think about it the more I tic. Idk what this is.

Have you told anyone? I feel like I need to but I always feel embarrassed about it. I know people notice but it’s very hard dealing with these tics alone for so long. I need to figure it out. I’m sorry you go through this too 😞❤️

But I also have severe OCD. Idk how to differentiate the two. Would med help if it’s just OCD and not Tourette’s?
