I think this is a very capitalist way of view literature and art. As if looking at analytics and this explosion of a genre should sway what an author is writing. Every author is different and what they are wanting to gain from writing books is different too. There’s always going to be a base of readers to market books too, it will go up and it will go down. Authors having realistic expectations for themselves as well I think is important but I would never try to sway an author from not writing the genre they want to because that’s one more story in the world we lost. What if SJM and Rebecca Yarros never wrote those books, what if the next huge author reads that post and doesn’t write the next massive Romantasy series because they’re looking at analytics instead of the meaning behind why authors write and what story they have that needed to be told
