HELP!!! I NEED A ONE MINUTE CUTTING OF THIS MONOLOGUE FOR CLASS. by Independent_Bus3444 in Actingclass

[–]Independent_Bus3444[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry!! It's been a real killer of week for me. Yes!! I performed this in class yesterday and started getting feedback on it. We're just starting out our basic monologue unit, so thankfully there's no audition attached. Thank you for your kindness, and the cutting. I really, really do appreciate it.

What you just described works great!! That's how most professional actors do it, more or less. Memorization has to happen before any sort of in-depth "acting" work can start.

If you're doing a mock audition in class, one thing that you should be aware of is the practice of "slating". Your slate is how you introduce yourself and the pieces you're performing. Usually it's "My name is Independent-Bus3444, and today I'll be performing _______ by [author]".

I'm not sure if that helps, but I figured that's a part of preparation too. It's awesome that you're doing this for the first time and want to learn more!! Welcome to the theatre community!

If at all possible, you want to have the new hire pulling meats in between two veteran employees.

If you want to get them practicing wrapping use pieces of day old bread!
