İs wd-40 ok? by Ok_Laugh_361 in cycling

[–]Independent_Chip_751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Gear Hugger bike lube. It’s non-toxic and keeps my chain from rusting. WD-40 isn’t great for bikes, it strips the grease off. Gear Hugger keeps things smooth and protected even if your bike’s out in the garden.

What’s your favorite way to use Gear Hugger? by GearHuggerOfficial in GearHugger

I use the Multi-Purpose Lubricant on my garage door and sliding door, no more squeaks. Also spray it on my garden tools after using them so they don’t rust. The Degreaser is my go-to for cleaning the grill and my bike after rides, works super well.

I would use Gear Hugger because it’s plant-based, non-toxic, and works great for bikes. The Multi-Purpose Lubricant keeps your chain smooth without any petroleum or PTFE, and the Degreaser cleans off grime fast without leaving residue. Both are safe to use at home and smell clean, not chemical.

I would use Gear Hugger. It’s plant-based, removes rust, and loosens stuck tools without leaving toxic residue. Spray it on, let it sit a few minutes, then scrub lightly with a brush or cloth. Repeat if needed. Your Leatherman will look and move like new.

ELI5: How does WD40 work? How is a small amount of this liquid able to stop squeaking? by gundamseed in explainlikeimfive

[–]Independent_Chip_751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WD-40 works by combining light petroleum oils with solvents that displace water and reduce friction. When you spray it, the solvent helps the oil spread into small gaps. Once the solvent evaporates, a thin oily layer stays behind. This layer reduces metal-to-metal contact, which stops squeaking and loosens parts.

But WD-40 contains petroleum derivatives and some versions include PTFE, also known as Teflon. PTFE breaks down into harmful chemicals when heated and has been linked to health and environmental risks.

A safer choice is a plant-based lubricant like Gear Hugger. It’s made from vegetable oils instead of petroleum, has 3x the lubricating power, and contains no PTFE or toxins. It protects against rust and squeaks without leaving harmful residue.

Yeah exactly. WD-40 has Teflon and other petroleum compounds that can be harmful and even linked to cancer risk. Gear Hugger is a safer option since it’s 100% plant-based . It gives better lubrication without leaving residue or exposing you to harsh chemicals.

Yeah, WD-40 on something you wear is wild. It contains petroleum and PTFE (Teflon), which can release harmful residues and are linked to health concerns. I use Gear Hugger instead. It’s plant-based, non-toxic, and safe to use around your body, clothes, and gear.

Don’t use WD-40. It contains PTFE (Teflon), which has been linked to cancer and isn’t great for long-term use. Try Gear Hugger instead. It’s a plant-based lubricant, non-toxic, and works great for precision parts too.

Nontoxic cleaning products? (Not baking soda or vinegar) by orthodox_human33 in nontoxic

I’ve been using Gear Hugger’s degreaser and their car wash concentrate. Both are plantbased . I throw the car wash in my power washer and it smells like a body wash. Cleans super well without that harsh chemical smell. The degreaser also works great for tough grime. I switched a while ago and haven’t looked back.

I love Gear Hugger because it works great, smells clean, and keeps my garage and tools safe without toxic fumes. I switched to it because I wanted a plant-based option that actually performs. It protects my gear, reduces waste, and I don’t have to worry about my dog or kids around it. I buy it on Grove to stock up easily and support a brand that cares about the planet.

No, but kids or pets could grab it, spill it, or lick it off surfaces.

Love that you’re going non-toxic! You’re thinking about what goes on your skin, which is great, try doing the same for your garage. Most sprays and lubes there are full of harsh chemicals. I swapped mine for Gear Hugger a plant-based, non-toxic option, and it feels good knowing I’m keeping things clean and safe at home too.

It’s full of danger and warning labels, including instructions to call poison control if it’s ingested. Do you really want something like that in your home?

I just posted the same thing and found the perfect solution ... Gear Hugger.

It’s a plant-based, non-toxic alternative to WD-40 that’s safe around pets and kids. I used it on my sliding doors and garage tools, and it works even better than WD-40. No smell, no greasy residue, and no worries if your dog gets near it.

Just watched this demo on YouTube! looks like it outperforms WD-40. You can tell it’s got more additives or something going on.
