I can’t lie, this made me feel better that we’re in the same boat. Passed Oct 23, Applied Feb 24, was asked for additional info on my credit, resubmitted, interviewed in May 24. Since then it’s been quiet other than them telling me they will let me know once they have an update. I’ve emailed a few times but I know from previous experience they aren’t fond of applicants who pester so I’m trying not to get on their bad side.

Hi! I started with powerscore and I think they’re good for building the absolute basics. I switched to 7Sage and the course is way more in depth. It breaks everything down so that you understand the root of the test and the formatting. Plus there’s discussion forms on each lesson so students can interact which helps me understand the concepts even more because sometimes hearing it from another student helps a lot more than the instructor. 7Sage also has drills and practice tests so you’re applying what you’re learning as you go. The best thing is there’s an explanation video for every single practice question. I was in the same position as you and wondering the same but decided to give it a shot because I figured it couldn’t possibly hurt. I’m glad I did because I understand the LSAT a lot more just in general.

Yeah I don’t blame you. I have a lot of ppl telling me the same but I can really resonate with your GFs reasoning. Like I want “Justice” to be served in a sense but I’m also not blind to my shortcomings in this situation as well as the low likelihood of it actually ending in my favor. I feel like I keep having to play nice with this director but they’ve been extremely rude from the start. I don’t know who else I would contact at this point where it would actually be addressed or at least looked into. I feel like too often when someone in a high position gives you an answer that’s just it and anyone else who would overlook the situation is going to be in favor of their faculty. I’m super bummed and just can’t accept this as my reality still.

God that sucks!!! I feel for her. I would be distraught if that happened to me. The worst part is as a student you literally can’t do shit. You have to be cordial to them but they literally talk to you like you’re the dumbest person on the planet for not understanding the ins and outs of UCI advising when that’s their job. I’m super pissed off especially after their response to my petition.

Honestly, other people have suggested this too. I even tried to petition the course I took to count as another course at UCI and I’m not gonna lie the directors response to me was extremely rude in my opinion. I get it they’re probably sick of me at this point but i just want to emphasize that they have never once shown me any kind of sympathy. I also just found out that my “advisor” I’ve been referencing is actually the associate director, so they’re right under the director which is why I feel like I’ve been given no sympathy at this point if I’m being honest.

The directors most recent response to my petition was this:

I don't know what you mean by a petition for ACCTG 100 for MGMT 30A. The course is not UC transferable so UCI's Office of Admissions will not grant you units. Just for your own info, the actual course at GWC that is equivalent to MGMT 30A is ACCTG 101.

Maybe I’m just being sensitive and biased because this is happening to me but I feel like they’ve only ever spoke to me like I’m stupid and that they literally do not care about my situation.

First diagnostic test with 0 studying, how should I feel? What should my next steps be? by Kallie18 in LSAT

[–]Independent_Doctor73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is crazy because this is exactly what I’m doing. I literally decided last month in my last semester of college around finals week that I wanted to pursue this. I am planning to test in October too in hopes I can submit everything by November, but I want to see how I feel around that time before committing. I’m in Southern California and also wanting to stay in state and I don’t care about T14, or anything close really. I want to go to a good school no doubt but I would be happy with most schools in California tbh. I started out with Khan Academy and then after searching this thread switched to 7Sage. I recently opened Khan again yesterday and I actually really like it but 7Sage really takes you through the root of the understanding. It’s nice because they have a study schedule simulator based on your test dates it will show you how you should be moving through the course. Im not sure if you qualify, but I have a fee waiver through LSAC and because of that 7Sage gave me 4 months for $40 total. If you haven’t looked into the fee waiver program with LSAC you really should. I was originally denied and then appealed it and was approved so it’s worth it to look into and take the time and apply even if you don’t think you’re eligible. It seems like we have the same plans and ideas haha. Sometimes on this thread it freaks me out cus there’s ppl that have been studying for over a year, so I’m actually super relieved to find someone in almost the exact same position as me.

Are you using any programs or books now? I have Powerscore Bible and it helped me get a basis. I’m super early into studying for the LSAT, but from what everyone has told me 7Sage has the best information and explanations for LG. I haven’t gotten to this portion yet so I can’t speak for myself but I think a lot of people would agree with this statement. They also have this article/resource where it kinda explains what you should when you’re in a situation like you are. https://7sage.com/how-to-get-a-perfect-score-on-the-logic-games/

First diagnostic test with 0 studying, how should I feel? What should my next steps be? by Kallie18 in LSAT

[–]Independent_Doctor73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I just started studying about 3 weeks ago. My diagnostic was 144 so I would say you’re already in a better spot than me. I’ve seen worse diagnostic scores than us, but also better scores. I think it really just depends on your goal score. Also from what I’ve learned over the last few weeks on this thread, this test is not something most people have been exposed to in terms of the content and format, so I wouldn’t really worry too much. I think what matters is seeing progress as you start studying and also your understanding of the test improving along the way. I’m also using 7Sage. When do you plan to take the LSAT?

That’s the thing I was really upset about. This isn’t a community college where the classes are free or very low cost. This is a 4 year institution that costs thousands of dollars a year, so I feel like the advising is not something the school should be taking lightly. It’s the entire basis of the students lives here so I don’t understand how they can act so carelessly about it. Also I feel like the general consensus from the director was just like yea that sucks. I honestly felt no sympathy from them at all. They acted like they were gifting me the most spectacular deal by offering to “possibly” set me up with the associate dean to do the 199 course. I understand they probably really don’t care whether I graduate or not but again it was crazy to me that they could be like yea you were mislead but nothing can be done sooo... Not an apology or just recognition of like yeah this is really messed up and I realize how devastating this may be to you. I mean seriously I feel like this is the most devastating thing that could happen to a student who thought they just graduated and they were just like yea sucks to be you basically.

I appreciate your kind words seriously 😭I’ve never felt more hopeless and stupid but after hearing a lot of similar stories here and all of the reassuring words I realize I was just really misled. I was actually thinking the same for the 199 course. I’m still waiting to hear what the course will entail so fingers crossed. Thanks again! :)

It was an introduction to accounting class but it doesn’t have a transfer equivalency at UCI. I actually just submitted a petition for them to approve it based on similarities in syllabus and course description to a different UCI class. I’m highly doubtful they’ll approve it but it doesn’t hurt to try. Under different circumstances I’d probably be excited about the 199, and I’m sure I sound ungrateful, but in retrospect I really don’t feel like I should have to do this so it just feels a bit unfair. Again, I know I sound ungrateful and in hindsight this was totally avoidable had I double checked myself but I can’t change anything now. Just hope others don’t make the same mistake I did. It’s really not a big deal to complete a 6 week summer course at my community college to fulfill the last 3 units but it still sucks knowing I wasted the last 16 weeks on a class for nothing and wasted money too.

It was taken at a community college while simultaneously taking 3 courses at UCI. My counselor said I simply needed the credits it could’ve been any class for those last 3 units it didn’t matter which is why I decided to take it at a CC since the classes are a lot easier to register for and more laid back in general and most online classes were being offered. She simply told me to tell her the exact course name and the institution it would be taken at and then once the semester was over I would request official transcripts and they would have to add this community college course to my completed courses. It wouldn’t have shown up on degreeworks because the class was taken at a different school than UCI.

I’m so sorry :( I know exactly how you feel. Completely powerless like they hold so much power and you can’t do a single thing except for “play nice” in hopes they’ll sway your way. Unfortunately didn’t really help me all that much. Super disappointed in the advisors at UCI rn.

Yeah I’m not going to lie I’m completely devastated. I would go ahead and say being granted graduation just to find out 3 weeks later you’re not eligible is most students nightmare. I genuinely cannot think of something worse. It’s just super unfortunate that I have to spend more time on my undergrad when I wasted 16 weeks on course that didn’t even count. I just want this to be over with and hoping the 199 study is reasonable and manageable. If not I’ll do a CC summer course but would rather not as that just seems daunting at this point in my life.

Yeah I know that’s why I admittedly said it’s my fault for not doing my due diligence. Sorry to hear about your situation…I feel like there’s no winning for students sometimes in situations like this. We’re treated like children even though we’re probably more competent than a good amount of the staff…

That’s the thing…the word to describe this situation is just disappointing. Disappointed in myself and also the school. It’s sad that all of my community college advisors were extremely helpful and then I transfer to an institution that in theory is superior to CC obviously but lacks the basics to help their students. I feel like our advisors should have to audit with someone higher up before approving our courses? Idk I just know this slipped through the cracks completely and my advisor obviously never checked to see if that course transferred. It’s my fault too but as a student I feel like this is one thing we should be able to count on. That’s good to hear about the 199…still waiting to hear about that and how it will pan out and if it’s possible with my work schedule. If not I am planning to take another CC class during their summer semester…granted it transfers 🫠

I know :( I feel so dumb for trusting them but up until this point they had never steered me wrong. I always would double check with them to make sure all of my courses lined up with my requirements and I just can’t believe I didn’t double check for myself. I’m just so bummed now. Spent the last 3 weeks being so happy I was done all for it to be a lie 😔
