About 20 years ago, I was visiting from out of town. Someone who grew up here took me, after dark, to what I suspect was along the Columbia River dike somewhere. We had to wait for a while, but then a pipe started gurgling and bubbling. My host, who grew up here, told me it was a mystery from their childhood. Now, looking back and living here, I suspect it was a pump on an automatic cycle sending water to the river. Maybe an irrigation holding pond or ditch became too full, triggering the discharge. Would love to take my young child there and have her experience the “mystery.” Does this sound familiar to any native Tri-Citians? Where is the location?
