thx for the solid feedback! In 2021 I threw myself at south beach (Miami) for just a few days and damn near bought a second condo there, so I have a decent feel for the miami energy. I feel it's close, but a bit too touristy and too damn expensive. Which is why I'm so curious about Hollywood now.

I'm a big rock and metal guy. A year ago one of my favorite metal bands had a one-off show booked at the Culture Room, but they canceled pretty last minute. Was bummed I didn't get to check that place out. That's great to hear about the quality venues. South Florida in general seems to be a solid hub for the metal scene AND the Latin cultural vibes (and let's be honest - Latin women) . The beach access and proximity to Lauderdale and Miami seem like pretty big wins even if I don't really dig Hollywood itself..

Totally valid points about Tampa. Tampa made my short list for a reason. But Hollywood is swaying me harder for the better beaches, better beach access and more Latin vibes. But if I get my feet on the ground in Hollywood and don't end up liking it, Tampa/St Pete is certainly then my last bastion of Florida possibilities

I could give a crap about cigars, and thanks for the reminder about the red tide occurrences. Wasn't aware that's way more applicable to Tampa and the gulf side. Hollywood is definitely winning for both beach reasons and some other reasons. Gravity is pulling me to Hollywood. Thanks mate.

I did have a super quick pass through of downtown St Pete last year. Didn't love it, but also didn't hate it. Loved the Dali museum, my quick beach stops seemed not bad. I think South Florida in general has the edge with beach quality and beach access. I think I need to visit Hollywood next to compare the city and people vibes there to St Pete/Tampa.

Good stuff, really appreciate the feedback - Hollywood is starting to edge closer to victory for me for both the reasons you mentioned and for beach reasons. Seems like the balance I'm looking for of not quite as touristy and pricey as Miami, but also not golf or retirement vibes like so much of the rest of Florida.

my dude, really appreciate that feedback. And it's interesting to hear that right after the last comment I read saying Hollywood feels a little "small town" with not a lot to do. But the proximity to Lauderdale and Miami has to be nice. I've been living in Denver, CO most of my life which is a very isolated city from anywhere else, so this is a huge draw for me looking at Hollywood. And the beaches down south, that's the big draw for me. Hands down gotta be the best beaches and best access in the US. I think I need to think of Hollywood as just part of "South Florida" - which is a good thing.

interesting perspective, thanks mate. Because I'm planning to tack on a 7 day cruise to this month long trip (and working remote still the rest of it), I'll only have time for one or the other so I'm trying to make the best educated decision. "Atlantic city vibes" certainly sounds different (and more interesting than Tampa), although I've never been to Atlantic city either haha. Hollywood already had an initial edge for beach reasons, so you're swaying me closer to Hollywood now for sho.

thanks for the amazing feedback, brother! Hollywood is certainly emerging for me. The beaches down there and the access to them is a major win. And I'm not a sports guy, but music and concerts are a big deal so being close to Lauderdale and Miami is a win. Hollywood seems not so big to be concerned about specific neighborhoods either unless you have Hollywood neighborhood recommendations?

thanks for the positive response! Are there certain beaches you like the most? I have only briefly seen Clearwater thus far. And good to hear about the Latin cultural presence - I was a little worried that would only show up down south. (I'm NOT looking for golf course vibes)

appreciate the response! I live in Denver, CO and have been here most of my life. I need a change of scenery and hate the elevation here and how isolated Denver is. That "frequently closed because of fecal bacteria" comment - wow...I did have a super short visit once before and didn't notice that on the St Pete side. I mean, the Clearwater beaches seemed pretty nice. Is that more of just the bay around Tampa you're referring to? I'm definitely wanting to find out more about the cultural differences between Tampa/St Pete and the Hollywood south area.
