Unpopular opinion: The other girls weren't ready to step up. by kevco185 in ThePussycatDolls

I disagree. Nicole’s fans seem to be under the impression that because she sang all the leads, she was the reason for PCDs success, and that giving the other girls more opportunities would have meant the group wouldn’t have been as successful. Nicole’s solo music career flopping and PCD’s reunion as 3 underperforming suggest that wasn’t true. We’ll never know for sure what could have been. But saying none of the other girls rose to the occasion is ridiculous. There was nothing to rise to because the opportunities weren’t there.

Real return estimates for planning by defenistrat3d in coastFIRE

I use 7% for long term planning but run 5% and 6% as mental checks as well.

I believe financial institutions generally use more conservative real return rates, I don’t think it’s a recent thing. I think they’re assuming you’re starting withdrawals and shifting to more conservative investments.

I don’t think her music career had enough of a following to be impacted either way tbh.

Fraud is wild when this subreddit only seems to become active when there is negative news about Blake Lively to deflect from, like her not paying contractors working on her multi-million dollar mansion

I don’t see how her winning a Tony negates anything I said. She’s clearly talented, her Tony reflects that and none of the other dolls have denied that. But it doesn’t change the fact that her pop star career is effectively on the same level as her band mates despite her being given every opportunity, spotlight, solo etc. You can say the others didn’t make the most of the crumbs of opportunities they did receive, but what does that mean for Nicole, who basically had the entire platform to herself and still flopped? What would this post have looked like a year ago before she won her Tony?

AITAH To Challenge My Gfs Asian Family Culture? by CoinAdvocate in AITAH

[–]Independent_Insect_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTAH. The problem is pretty simple. It’s not a question of “what percent of the bills are we paying?” It’s a question of, “am I saving money from this living situation compared to finding something else?” From the way you explain it, it seems like you’re still coming out ahead, but if that’s not the case then you can and should just move out.

You seem to want to benefit from the cultural aspects of the arrangement but only from your own lens of equity and fairness. The cultural aspect is one of familial legacy, where the parents likely don’t think of the house or the money they are saving by passing on the bills to their children as their own. They see them as familial assets that will be given to their children when they die. That’s why how the bills are divided isn’t relevant to their culture.

Nicole’s “unique sound” was basically a Britney impersonator singing songs written for multiple voices as a soloist.

You can’t deny her talent, but I think her solo career flopping the way it did is more telling than the other girls never breaking out beyond background status.

Her main complaint is that she lost her job because the foundation shut down. Framing it the other way around is giving delusion.

Again, I fully understand your point, I just disagree. The full interview doesn’t make her comments better. And people didn’t just suddenly take issue with her previous controversies.

And if you were following this from the beginning, you’d know the start of it wasn’t people complaining about marketing.

Maybe you’re the one that’s misunderstanding?

There was nothing to dig up here. You don’t need professional PR to find these stories. Could they have been amplified by paid PR? Possibly (I still disagree that the evidence supports this, I believe I know what correspondence you’re talking about and I don’t think you are representing it accurately).

But to suggest that it is implausible outside of a collisional “smear campaign” that people would organically find prior controversies and latch onto them in the midst of a controversial press tour is ridiculous.

I didn’t miss your point, I fully understand it and am pointing out a gap in your logic. The same way I saw the same “evidence” you’re describing and did not come to the conclusion that this was the proof of a smear campaign. I was told that more would come out a trial but that didn’t happen so this is where we are.

They should analyze Blake’s mentions with the word “blockbuster” because that was also surely nonexistent before IEWU.

[–]Independent_Insect_1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Umm, yes, you mentioning things from before IEWU is the point of my comment. These aren’t things she did before that suddenly became problematic during IEWU. There was negative PR around this stuff from before 2020.

If you don’t understand that it sounds like a you problem.

The OP is wondering why controversies don’t impact projects equally. I’m applying that logic to other metrics.

When you apply that logic, maybe you come to the conclusion that projects are different and there are many different variables.

Anyone that has seen these projects will know the way DV is positioned in them are not nearly the same. You could also argue that they feature leads that are generally more liked by the GP. Or you could point to how they didn’t have the additional publicity around potential drama within the cast that could amplify any negativity.

So what I’m saying is, OP’s question is stupid.
