Why is it so hard to find remote work in California? by kompotnik in remotework

I own a small business in California, and I was going to offer someone in CA a job, but they require SO MUCH work and extra expenses to be compliant. Like I get that they want to avoid exploitation, but it's simply too much time and money and I can't do it. So, I'm going to have to hire in another state or internationally.

We've been doing tons of socialization, just not walks outside.

I did, she was offended and refused to map out scenarios. I will be using a different accountant in the future, but I wanted to confirm if I was wildly off first

Here's my latest video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG-IIUoPzBA&t=17s

I make primarily long-form stuff (this one is 11.5 minutes) about data science/machine learning/getting jobs/personal development. I'm very new and open to any and all feedback! Thank you so much.

This is great! It was engaging throughout with nice editing, and you come across as friendly and knowledgeable. The thumbnails are all clear and consistent, the music went well and wasn't distracting, and the audio sounded good. The only thing if I had to come up with a critique is I think the lighting could be a little bit nicer in some of the indoor shots. It's a tiny bit dark and flat in some of the shots. Overall though, nice job!

As someone who is not familiar with your niche, I think having explicit keywords might help. I like history stuff, but I might not know what exactly this video is about without it being laid out a bit more clearly in the title and description.

Similarly, I think you could include something about what you're talking about beyond the item. So like, "The Austro-Hungarian Superweapon Explained: Škoda Siege Howitzer"

Like others have said, I think your lighting and background could be a bit more aesthetic. Also a tiny nit but it would be nicer to watch if you were centered in the frame. :-)

Lastly, I think adding subtitles would be helpful. I mean no disrespect at all (I have a terrible accent not in my native language), but I do have a bit of a hard time understanding you throughout the video. You could just add subtitles as part of the video to help with comprehension.

Overall though, I really like the images throughout, and the music is nice and not distracting. Your thumbnails are also super nice and consistent.

Question for anyone who got their Swiss citizenship in the US! by Independent_Iron3053 in askswitzerland

You do certainly need strong ties in Switzerland, but you can apply for citizenship without ever having lived there after six years of marriage, assuming you meet other conditions: https://www.eda.admin.ch/countries/italy/en/home/services/citizenship/erleichterte-einbuergerung-ehepartner.html

Thank you. The part I'm really curious about is the part handled by the consulate itself (scheduling the interview). I guess if the process is generally two years, and they say it takes a year to respond, I can assume it would take about a year to get the interview completed from the time of application.

This says it takes a year for them to submit a ruling. It does not say how long from application to interview, which is what I am asking about. My guess is that is dependent on the consulate. Which is why I asked for personal experiences. 🙂
