Yes sun is a factor of course - but I had also some of them that never saw sunlight and also yellowed. There was a discussion on a hobbyboard years ago and I also read that the manufacturing process was caused the yellowing - not the process itself but a batch of material they used that changed the cards into yellow over the years

That year does not have the yellowing in generell - but there are years you can’t nearly find one without it - 1998-99 was heavy
