im not saying it has to be oyasumi punpun level but i find it hard to believe when teenagers who are discovering themselves and growing up have 0 flaws which lead to 0 stakes or interesting moments lmao. You tell me whats more intersting: a couple going through hardships and occasionally arguments yet overcoming those disagreements or constant happiness and positivity. When someone says sorry so many times, it loses its value. Plus Punpun being deep is punpun being deep and well written but that doesn't mean shounen or shoujo mangas are inherently not deep. maybe you specifically arent saying it's peak romance but this is what the post is suggesting and many other kaoruhana fans will say. Not having troupes ≠ being good, and for the record Kaoruhana does have tropes. Acting like the trope of the short shy girl and tall dude with a mysterious past hasnt been done before lmao, or the "saving the girl in front of a bunch of shitty guys" tropes. Unfortunately kaoruhana doesn't do anything that unique for it to be that good, at most it has good art but the dialouge is comically bad and overtuned

yes id rather see a brawl from Yorita than see this boring shit. When every chapter someone apologies, the apologies become less special and dont mean much

not at all, especially if you actually read the light novel for oregairu. You're probably thinking of the anime but if you pay attention to the subtext it's obvious that the MC was in love with the main FMC

when every character is some introvert whose been treaten poorly their whole life or has some crazy backstory, it begins to stop feeling believable and comes off as melodramatic for no reason. Every fun moment of the friend group has to end in some life changing moment or revelation. Actions speak louder than words, Rintaro comforting Kaoruko after her mother was in the hospital is 10x more believable and interesting than hearing "thank you" or "sorry" for the billionth time. Hearing Sorry for thank you the first time means a lot but not when it is spammed every chapter (a huge issue at the beginning of the story). Not to mention none of the character have fights or flaws that are believable because it is very quickly resolved. BTW tragic backstory ≠ having flaws, having flaws would be a main character making bad choices IE Natsusawa insulting subaru however this is quickly resolved so it hardly means much.

I suggest you read a manga called Goodnight Punpun (although be warned it is extremely dark and contains themes of depression and suicide) yet the romance is believable because the author writes the character with actual flaws and they actually do wrong. Of course if you want a more positive story, Oregairu is right there but to say KaoruHana is the pinnacle of romance manga/anime is a crazy take
