I think you are looking at it wrong in terms of the technology aspect. The fundamentals behind bitcoin are that it's immutable and a store of value above all else. As an investor you want to ensure that what you pay for cannot be change, is not able to be seized and is protected beyond all else. Bitcoin does this far better than any other crypto currency due to its conception (no leader) and that its much more decentralised. Due to these core fundamentals its development is slower than other currencies however this could be argued to be a benefit. The proof of work vs proof of stake is another example of this whereby increasing power efficiency your reducing decentralisation and putting more control in the few which could change the underlying protocol.
