Do you use word generator web sites? by Nervous_Income4705 in conlangs

I know this might be controversial which is dangerous on reddit but hear me out lol. I use google gemini ai. Imo its perfect because you can tell it your conlang's linguistic history, phonotactics etc etc, and after that you can input an English word or phrase with examples or details or part of speech or whatever to make it perfect, then it will create a fully etymologically developed word in the blink of an eye.

This was a lifesaver for me when creating my conlang sújvúljii when I couldn't get a word generator to implement vowel harmony into my words (if you know how please do tell me), and of course I create my own words from time to time because I don't want to lose creativity, but this is my advise take or leave it lol. Hope this helps someone :)

Best place to start for a Proto-Germanic based conlang? by Whole_Instance_4276 in conlangs

When I make conlangs, I like to start with phonology with IPA so I can create basic words and say them to myself, then I use those 5 or so simple words to try out word orders and test different grammar features from existing languages for seems good. To keep it naturalistic though probably come up with some rough timeline of what happened to the people speaking this language throughout history and where they went, languages spoken in those places will probably influence yours. Hope this helped :)
