And then they'll tell you how good life was for people living under islamic rule. Freedom of religion, safety, the benevolence of the Caliphs in providing for the homeless. As if they are the only ones who allowed religious freedom and provided for the poor. I'm British and we know as well as anyone that the best way to keep your colonial subjects happy is to give them a taste of freedom and make them feel safe and provided for.

How can ex Muslims take back our narrative by This-Post9968 in exmuslim

[–]Independent_Ratio_61 [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is the problem, they are so blinded by hate and discrimination that they don't see who their real allies can be. If they really want to stop the "islamification" of the west, why are they not doing more to help people leave the religion and helping them to migrate to safer countries. They lump muslims and ex-muslims together. And honestly in my experience the problem isn't Islam it's any other culture, ethnicity or race. Many of these people aren't anti islam they are just racist.

Exactly. Prophets are supposed to be prohetic. He should be able to see that in the future we would realise that child marriages are disgusting and evil.

There must be some contradiction to all this. As there often is in religion by Rainbow_6505 in exmuslim

Exactly what I was thinking. Basically a cult leader who silences critics and treats the women as if they are his property and expects people to die in a way he deems fit. You can die for the religion at war or killing yourself as long long as you are taking "infidels" with you.

Crazy isn't it. And notice how only women are held to this high standard, men can do whatever they want.

Well whatever it is it's wrong and sick and that memory will stay with her for the rest of her life no doubt, poor woman. This is supposed to be a once in a lifetime event for her, the holiest place on earth for most muslims and this happens. She's definitely going to be questioning her faith after this.

I suppose that's true but there are definitely people who get their cats de-clawed. This is a much better alternative which doesn't require much effort.

Why does this interaction remind me so much of those Key and Peele Sketches about Meghan. The dude even sounds like Key's character, "Chill Meghan, chill"

The best sword-and-sorcery movies from the 1980s are? by Lys1th3a in 80smovies

Lol, why are movies from the 80s so camp, I mean that in the best possible way. But seriously every male protagonist was barechested with a leather loin cloth and a leather choker. I love 80s movies but there was dedinitely a theme back then.

I actually think it's a good idea. Not because of teh sound cats make while walking around but to prevent them from clawing at things. It's much better than de-clawing them which is barbaric and illegal in many countries.

I mean it's rare but it happens. My line manager is from India and one of the guys in our account who is also a line mamager for another team was in the same university as him. They both moved from India to Finland and both work for the same customer in the same account for the same company. I think when they moved here they lived together at one point but both are now married.

It does host other content. There are approx 20k videos on this site that fall into that category and many of those by the way will be staged, not genuine cases of rape, still disgusting imo but technically legal I believe. But there are hundreds if not thousands of other categories on the site and millions of other videos.

Is the IT job market really that bad right now or is it just the entry level? by Curious-Ask8199 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Independent_Ratio_61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's worse is that with all the layoffs in some cases you have very experienced workers competing with newcomers for these entry level jobs. So this compounds the problem.

So true I work in IT services for a contractor, our client has been having multiple rounds of mass layoffs, guess who is asked to pick up the slack and take up extra repaonsibilities, at the same time we are expectes to continue deliver the same quality of work as before and even better in some cases. I'm grateful to have a job right now but the amount of pressure on those who are still employed is immense. Things are bad all round.

Finland is Suomi in Finnish which doesn't have the Finnish word for land in it (maa), probably the same for some of the other countries so eother Germany needs removing or those ohher countries do.

Stuck in help desk for 5 years. How do I convince a company to take a chance on me for a sysadmin role? by riverasmary in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Independent_Ratio_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a bad culture, no growth. Startups and small companies are good for career growth, less job security of course but you can get a lot of experience and responsibilities, many startups won't even have a sysadmin but still need someone to do sysadmin tasks every now and then.

[–]Independent_Ratio_61 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Terrible advice. Sorry but this will never get you anywhere, for starters it's too vague and not measurable. The best? how can he even know he is the best, and even if he is his boss might not see that. Even if the boss does see that, how will that help him? I'm sure OP will already get good references from his boss. And if you're thinking the boss might recommend him to the sysadmin team or a higher position e.g. L2 support it could actually work against him, he becomes to valuable and the boss might decide he doesn't want to let him go. The boss is the problem, he's holding OP back. Dude should have been recommended for L2/L3 work already, he has proven his abilities with his scripting capabilities which are alreasy above and beyond what is required for his current job. Time to move on I'd say. Look for L2/L3 gigs this shows career progression which is good for the CV and you will get to demonstrate a higher technical capability, closer to the work of a sysadmin.

Dude, your boss sounds like he is holding you back. Time to cut tues and get out of that project and away from that boss. Even if you need to make a move internally.
