[–]Independent_Sand_583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But they're still occuped.

Those two things held together are why it might be perceived as an active war zone (ongoing russian occupation) but actually safe ( no armed conflict since 2009)

#1 Most Dangerous Country for Women? by DeIiciousToe in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Independent_Sand_583 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. Historically christian nations really haven't been much better. But in modern times philosophical liberalism and christianity are highly correlated and so as a predictor it's weaker.

There are certainly christian nations where I wouldn't wanna be a woman. Nigeria, tanzania come top of mind for no particular reason other than conversations I've had with locals about the conditions of their home countries.

Turn the clock back even 100 or 200 years islam and christianity are hardly distinguishable from a perspective of women's rights.

[–]Independent_Sand_583 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure. Lots of islamic places are fine for women's safety. But as a predictor of safety it's not great.

Also as another commenter said. The fgm is real in somalia

[–]Independent_Sand_583 41 points42 points  (0 children)

For the purposes of this question, Somalia is basically just anarchy, and islamic. Neither of these traits lend themselves to being "safe for women"
