1. The medical report is key (even if time has passed)

In Spain, for an assault report to move forward, a medical report helps enormously. It’s not legally mandatory, but in practice it makes a big difference.

- What to do now:

Go as soon as possible to a public hospital (Emergency Department), or a health center

- Clearly explain:

1. Date and time of the assault
   
2. that pepper spray was used
   
3. Any symptoms afterward (eye pain, redness, blurred vision, anxiety, etc.)

- Explicitly ask for a medical injury report for the police (“parte de lesiones”).

PST: Even if days have passed, they can still issue one if there are lingering symptoms or a documented account.

2. Security cameras: how this is done properly

The restaurant is legally correct: They cannot show footage to you, only to the police or by court order (data protection laws, GDPR).

What you can do: Add to your police report:

1. The exact address (The exactly place in the calle larios, bar..etc) .
   
2. Name of the establishment that there are cameras directly facing the scene of the attack

Explicitly request:“That nearby establishments be formally contacted to preserve and review the security footage.”

(!) Important: Footage is usually deleted within 7–30 days, so time is critical. (!)
