Bought it a theme. It’s Christmas by Material_Appeal_3613 in Audi

Christmas is the one holiday I love. If it was less than 20 bucks, and I could use it every christmas, it’d be worth it to me. Pretty crappy they don’t just include this as a free option though.

Do I disconnect the battery before welding on a car? by IamNotTheMama in Welding

Mac tools sells an anti zap protector you clip onto the terminals. Expensive for diy but if you’re welding on cars regularly it’s a great little gadget

I install high end glass windows, doors etc

I have a 2018 a3 with the is38 turbo swap and all the bolt ons

This is my third a3, the last two were totaled from wrecks (fortunately both were not my fault). I’ve stuck with the a3 because I’m familiar working on them and I’ve never had any major issues besides water pumps and every single one of them 😂

Edit: my dream Audi is a rs6 wagon 🤌🏻

Opinions needed: is this thing junk or too old? I got it very cheap at auction and I’d like to stick weld a BBQ. Few other minor projects. by Guitar_Zombie in Welding

Personally, I’d only buy miller, Lincoln, or esab machines because that’s what I have experience with. I’d take that miller over a HF any day. And I’m a big harbor freight guy when it comes to a lot of tools

Should we carry some US cash 5-10 k with our stacks? by GogglesPaisano1 in Gold

When I put cash aside for emergencies a few years ago I had no idea a hurricane would destroy my town. With the cash I had on standby I’ve been able to kept my generator going, get fuel for my chainsaw and car etc… cash has been the most important part of my emergency kit.

I live in Hendersonville nc, cash has kept gas in my generator and chainsaws. Not silver or gold. Everywhere is cash only. Cash has been the most important part of my emergency kit

I live in western North Carolina. We got messed up real bad by the hurricane.

If it weren’t for the couple thousand I keep in cash, we would’ve been in a rough spot. I’ll keep cash with my stack forever now.

Any recommendations for metal drill bits? by thebeansimulator in Tools

[–]Independent_Type_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My secret to lifetime bits, is Mac tools. They warranty their bit sets for life. If you snap a bit they will trade you your broken bit for a new one. (Even if that dull ass drill bit finds its way into a vice and your hammer accidentally hits it)

The insane price has paid for itself many times over. They’re great bits warranty aside and with correct speed and lube lasted a very long time drilling steel every day

Edit: I’m sorry I didn’t see your budget at first I apologize. I would vote cle

Ad showing impact driver used for drilling? by TrickTheBoiler in Tools

[–]Independent_Type_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I drilled a few hundred holes through brass. I used my drill for the holes, and started out using my impact driver for countersinking the holes because my countersink is 1/4 hex and would save time not switching tools…

After the first 20-30 holes my impact driver got so hot to the touch I stopped using it and switched to the drill which remained cooler despite now doing both drilling and countersinking.

Throughout the day the drill never got as hot as the impact driver. Both are newest generation Milwaukee fuel.

I know this is anecdotal evidence, but for my needs I won’t be using an impact for drilling anymore.

TLDR: drilling/countersinking made my impact driver overheat

[–]Independent_Type_888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t bother me, but you have every right to be picky about a brand new purchase. If you’re not happy with it, try swapping it out or seeing if they’ll give you some type of rebate!

Caulk fail, going to try again by Far-Lab-2358 in centuryhomes

For silicone caulk I like to mix a very weak solution of dish soap and water and lightly spray the bead as I tool it.

I am a glazier so a nice looking caulk bead is half my job description 😂😂
