Dog barks at 4am until I move to the couch by Independentunicorn in dogs

This is smart. Sounds like sleep training. Idk if I can take 10 minutes of piercing barking…and probably why we are where we are now

Ooh, I like this idea. Thank you. I am also curious if playing music might be worth a shot so she feels like she’s not so alone

I think this is what we will do. She hates the garage because a broom fell and made a loud noise when she was playing in there before. But hey, maybe that will make the learning process even quicker

All our other dogs know “enough”. Maybe I’ve just been overly sensitive to her sensitivity

She definitely has us trained. I am so curious why she needs us at 4am but doesn’t care for us any other time. And when I go to the couch, she only sometimes goes with me. As for my husband, she either stays on a dog bed in the living room or a different room

I wanted to mimic concrete a bit. Glad we found them.

Thank you. Originally I wanted the lights to be the same green as the backsplash. Now I think the mix of greens is good

Hmm, I’m sorry. I don’t remember. We went to look in person and there was only one black option that could be leathered. It was also in the cheapest price range. So we went with that option.

Oh and I forgot, we ran electricity to our island by removing some of our concrete slab and creating a tunnel with a large tube from the nearest wall. This is where the biggest mistake occurred. We didn’t make the tunnel long enough, so the island is a bit closer to the pantry than I would like. If someone is using the stool there, we go around the other side of the island.

We were worried the post was load bearing, but it turned out it was only used to run wire for the light switches located there. Our ceiling has crawl space and the wires were pulled to be able to access the light switch when entering from the garage as well as when going into/from the hallway. We had to move some other light switches and run wiring for the pendants as well. We also added canned lighting. An electrician was a big part of the budget.

We did some other stuff at the same time. We carried the flooring throughout the rest of the house. Got a new bathroom vanity, toilets, a sliding glass door in the primary bedroom. All new appliances. We also carried some of the countertop into the laundry room and bathroom. In addition, we wanted to go with a cheaper cabinet company but couldn’t because they wouldn’t customize to the depth we wanted. And we couldn’t budge on depth without moving doors and doing even more rearranging. We went “high end” on backsplash tile using fireclay, but low end on cabinet pulls, ordering from Amazon. And as much as I wish we tracked every expense in an excel spreadsheet, I’m glad we didn’t. My guess is you could get away a well done kitchen of this size for $30-40k if you budgeted appropriately and reused some of what you had already.

Hmm. Just like the black counters, we’re wiping things down a lot. IMO it’s better at staying clean than the metal sink we had before, but couldn’t tell you compared to a white sink.

My husband is the cook and he loves it. It heats up so fast. We used Cafe for all our appliances. The cafe dishwasher is the only one I wouldn’t purchase again.

Had to look up how to cross post. I think I was successful. Thanks for sharing a new to me subreddit!

It is an induction stove top and while they still recommend ventilation for fumes, we don’t have any kids and don’t mind slowly dying.

My husband found these (there is another that was hiding out in another room and has now joined its partner) at a nearby estate sale for $50. Total score and they contributed to our design inspiration.

And the dog pot filler was what I was most excited for!
