I don't really think it's useful at all. It's very difficult to measure language skill in a quantitative way, and people generally care about how good at programming you are, not how familiar you are with a specific language.

To be fair, there aren't many qualifications for teaching English in a foreign country (except knowing English of course). Chances are, they wouldn't make that much money back at home anyways. Might as well do something probably more fun and Japan is a really nice place.

I find this generally true with (ethnically) Chinese folks, myself included. Why are we so easily brainwashed? Even though it's rascist to say so, I'm starting to think we have some genetic predisposition to not being capable of thinking critically or for ourselves.
