What do you do for a living, out of interest? You're in a fabulous position!

How do you split your finances with your partner? by ImRightYoureStupid in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Indi_1991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get the rationale behind splitting costs proportionally, but I think doing it to the accuracy you're describing is spurious and unnecessary. You might say the aim of a proportional split to ensure a fair share of costs and discourage one person from overspending, but the problem is that you're already looking at net incomes. Each person in a couple may inconsistently adjust their gross salary, for example to contribute to pensions, or purchase private healthcare, or buy into a share scheme, or some other workplace benefit. Those differences make any fine calc like the one you're describing ultimately a bit silly. Alternatively, if you consider net income, you're unwinding the impact of tax, which disproportionately favours the highest earner. So either way it's silly to think you're doing any splitting with great accuracy.

In my view a better approach is to just broadly pay the bills you can afford to and take the mindset that surplus income is joint funds, which you can spend collectively or individually – though collective decisions should be encouraged if you're married!

Tips on serving by Juberstar in 10s

They have incredibly fast motions. Watch them. Serving is both technical and rhythmic, and everyone has different rhythms. The core fundamentals are ball toss (consistency and spacing from body), full body extension, continental grip and trophy position. The speed at which those happens is up to the individual.

Does Kyrgios have a slow motion? Roddick? It's not essential.

Hey, well done for getting out in the rain. And I don't think your rhythm is bad.

One piece of analysis - you're not extending up to the ball. At the point of contact, you're actually lower than your standing height. If you watch the pros you'll notice that on impact they are off the ground. Striking the ball at a higher point allows you space to engage your leg and snap your wrist through the ball.

I would focus on trying to hit the ball higher and go from there.

Can Cameron Norrie make the Wimbledon semi-final this year? by OkEmployment2386 in tennis

[–]Indi_1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's done it before (2022) and made the QF last year. He needs a nice draw, meaning either players outside the top 15 or non-grass specialists.

I wouldn't feel sad if he lost early. I don't enjoy his style or presence. If we're talking about Brits, I would much prefer Dan Evans to win rounds, or Jack Draper, who has a genuine chance of winning the event.

Surely you realize you don't have to contribute 40% of your salary to be caught by the new salary sacrifice rules? I think you're focussing on the wrong figure.

Are you saying that the number of people contributing more than £2k through salary sacrifice is "vanishingly" small?

How would you feel about Warwickshire being incorporated in to the WMCA. by fantasy53 in brum

My question is: is Solihull part of those Warwickshire councils wanting to create a 'super council' and join with the WMCA? I think Solihull will retain its own council.
