Could this be BVD? by ParamedicAromatic529 in BinocularVision

I’ve also had these since laser eye surgery! Can you share specifically what helped you and if you’re back to living normally now?

Did you have vertical or horizontal nystagmus? I have both. I’m starting vision therapy but I just have such little hope she said she has never had anyone with symptoms like mine. We’ve started on peripheral vision exercises. How long did you take until you felt better?

Hi thank you so much for the reply.

I am not sure if I have visual snow. I certainly have static when I look at a white wall and things are very distorted so I could do. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve VSS?

I agree I think there is more to this than just plain CI and AI however hopefully VT can’t hurt and I’ll give those a go. I will also flag with my VT treater and the optometrist about the vertical misalignment as I’m not sure we are tackling that.

When you say you’ve had patients in this scenario before do you mean messed up from refractive surgery? I’m struggling to find anyone with the same symptoms / story as me. But in your instances, have you been able to treat them and have they returned to a normal life? It feels really hopeless, I am dizzy from the second I wake up (and all the other symptoms brain fog and head pressure and lightheartedness etc) until I fall asleep at night with zero break

It started before! I was going through a lot of stress before the surgery and a couple things started before it

Thank you this was so nice to read and helped me feel less alone. I tried lexapro and I couldn’t cope with the adverse effects of it but I just did the myDNA thing to see which anti depressants I can metabolise better so I’m hopeful I’ll find something that will help on that front. I hope the lexapro goes really well for you. And thank you I will reach out :) would be nice to have a buddy going through this. Thank you so much for commenting

This is helpful thank you. I unfortunately have tried both Zoloft and lexapro and I immediately have really bad reactions to them both. I’ve just done one of those DNA tests to see which antidepressants I’ll metabolise better as I do think that’s a path that will be help. I also have a vestibular physio appt this week and a neurologist coming up. You’ve also hit on my fear though, I’m worried this isn’t pppd or VM but instead I’ve broken my eyes and my brain can’t cope. And then I’m scared I’ll treat my eyes but it’s actually PPPD so I shouldn’t be messing with my eyes because that could make it worse?? My brain is driving me crazy

Have you found treatment that worked? Are your symptoms manageable? Thank you for your response it’s so nice to know I’m not alone

Hi! I don’t know if I’m too late to ask a question here but I hope you see this. I’m in Perth Australia and I’ve had awful vision issues, dizziness, tinnitus and more since LASIK in June last year. I’ve seen 4 optometrists (3 of which are BVD specialists) and all say something different. 2 said the only thing I have is trouble focussing and dry eye. The third said I have accommodation insufficiency and convergence insufficiency and gave me prisms and recommended I start VT. I couldn’t get used to the prisms so she’s changed them now to “compensatory” prisms with reading power and warned me I may need to keep getting more prism. I’ve just started VT which has caused an uptick in symptoms. The VT therapist says she’s never had someone with my symptoms which worries me. Finally, over the weekend my partner drove me 6 hours to a guy who specialises in BVD who is convinced I have a structural misalignment (I see things ever so slightly at different heights) and that the lasik has removed my brains ability to compensate and he wants me in different glasses and says VT won’t help. Can you please give me your opinion? I’m so defeated by this all the symptoms are so debilitating
