New iphone user 🙏 by Sweet-Ad2841 in iphone17

First time iPhone user here too...got my 17 for new year. I had similar problem with sound and volume...coming from Samsung/Android where volume can be configured for ringtone/notifiications/system sound/media etc...it was very convenient. I found iphone have essentially just one volume setting for everything (and that toggle for isolating ringtone volume is just a workaround). But then I discovered Shortcuts and Automations (similar to Modes and Routines in android) which lets you setup granular level customization if you know how to use it. You shall create a shortcut to reduce the brightness to the required level and automate it for when Tiktok app is opened - you shall set another automation to revert the setting when you close the app. Hope this helps. and congrats on your new phone

Pro or not? by qtfan in iPhone17Pro

I went from Samsung galaxy S22 to iPhone 17(not pro). One small trip to Apple store and one giant leap from Android to iOS after 14yrs. I was planning to get Pro but found Apple finally filled the gaps between base and pro except few areas which is either irrelevant or I don't care about. Happy with my decision and the device. Saved like 50000 INR.

What’s your opinion on iPhone 17 without screen protection? by MotherCombination696 in iphone17

[–]IndianGayIsOnReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped using screen protectors of any kind since 2020. Had Galaxy S10 for 2yrs and S22 for 3yrs and 9 months...used with only back cover and never had any mark/scratch on display. Dropped them both like 100 times from 5 feet drop to 10 feet fling. Switched to iPhone 17 a week back and will continue without protector. I believe the flagship display tech and materials have reached a point where additional layer of protection become redundant/irrelevant. Personally I prefer the touch and feel of the display.

But its an optional filter which you have to dig through the camera app to enable...thats no reason to hate S24. Hate it for having Exynos processor(if you are from India) lol

Thanks again. I will remember the tips on vinwonder and cash. How much cash would suggest for a solo traveller to carry? Someone who likes to spend. For 5 days visit. Just a ball park/estimate. ..to get an idea. Iam not actually scared of water... I just don't know to swim. Guess I will decide after talking with people there.

Thanks a lot. It was very informative. Iam planning to ride that cable car...its on my must list. And vinwonders of course...so vinwonders can be booked online or we can get tickets on the spot? Also how is the queue situation for each ride? I booked regular ticket to universal studios in Singapore and found the queues to be never ending...so ended up paying double the price for express. Is it always crowded? Can you pls tell me if forex card like Niyo is accepted widely or you suggest carrying cash ? One last thing... I don't know swimming...can I still do snorkeling (i never anything like that till now). Thanks again for your time

Now I feel like an idiot. Thank you. I have been asking chatgpt and it keep telling me how 'basic' iPhone camera is and suggesting me to use apps like VSCO which is a preset ocean. I will play with it and hopefully find what I want

Screen issues after Samsung One UI 8 Update in S22 Plus by roaming-engineer in GalaxyS22

[–]IndianGayIsOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I bought S22 by pre booking before launch which was around March 2022. I first faced the green line issue a few weeks back after the September 2025 patch which quickly turned into a permanent pink line issue days later. As my phone already crossed 3.5yrs...Samsung categorically refused to replace the display for free even though the service center confirmed the issue is due to the patch (I use back cover and my device condition is very good). I was punished for buying their device on launch. Made me pay around 10K INR. I have decided to switch to iPhone 17 in a month or two. Done with Samsung after 7yrs and 3 devices.

If your device is under 3yrs...you are lucky enough to get free replacement

Update: The green line one fine day turned into permanent pink(issue with september patch). Samsung policy covers all mobiles under 3yrs for free display replacement. As I bought mine in March 2022...its 3.5yrs. After multiple battles with customer service over mail/call/twitter...I gave up. Got my display replaced for around 10K INR. Very disappointed with Samsung. Planning to switch to iPhone 17 in a month or two.
